Not sure about his ability to read defenses but he sure as hell needs to work on his ball security!

What I noticed about some of his short to intermediate passes is too much arc, as if he's trying to approach them the same as the long bombs. If he can flatten those arcs into on-the-numbers bullets instead, and hit his receivers, we might have something.
It does help when receivers have both hands to use (
Two fumbles in one game. Needs to work on that
three

Yup. What's interesting to me is that for as great of an athlete/runner as he was college, he's got a lot to learn in how to use his legs more effectively, especially in the pocket. And I haven't been at all impressed by how they've run the read-option, though that might be more a result of the coaching. You'd think Milroe would be great for the read-option, but it's been a big zero from what I've seen, and the fakes haven't had much fakery to them by my eyes.
Now that the game is over. Im thinking he has no business on the field this year. Not even as a runner.

Yeah rookie Russ trajectory he is not. I remember rookie Russ in that preseason KC game. He was awesome.

Agree. He needs a full developmental year, learning an NFL playbook, adjusting to the speed of the NFL game, and all these little things that I notice. And with those 3 fumbles today, three, I don't think he can be trusted in a close game to handle the ball yet.

We all knew we drafted a developmental player. He showed us just that, a lot of work to go.

The fumbles probably hurt his chances to come in on specialty plays

The only thing that matters is how much he will learn from this performance

I think a lot of folks just see what they want to see.
Milroe did not make bad decisions today. He did not throw interceptions today. He also did not hang onto the ball while being murdered by four behemoths. He did not carry the ball as securely as he should. He also did not corral a bad snap that was horridly awry. He did throws some nice balls and convert a number of third and longs. He threw a nice TD pass. He basically played according to what opportunities his teammates provided, which were not a lot.

The score was 20-7. We failed to convert on two different possessions goal to go on the four yard line. It appeared GB dominated most of the game but add two scores and fix those turnovers and what do you get? From our backups.

He's not good yet. That's ok. We have Darnold for the next few years and he can work on his game. He's an exceptional athlete and while I think he was a bit of a gamble, sometimes you gamble with talent.

Glad the guy was able to get a lot of reps today. It shows us (and him) how far he has to go to become an NFL quarterback. He had 2-3 nice throws, but most were high/low, ahead/behind. He took sacks. Threw to guys who were covered behind the line of scrimmage. Late in the game on a 2nd and 7, he ran out of bounds (def. outside the pocket) for a loss instead of throwing the ball away. Not to mention the fumbles...

He's electric when he runs the ball for sure, but showed everyone in the league that he is not ready for prime time. Still, I don't think he would make it through waivers to the practice squad. Maybe we'll see more wildcat packages as the season goes on.

He's 3 of 3 on QB sneaks/tush pushes which is promising. Both of those today saw our OL push the entire defense two yards off the LOS. Very impressive! I can't remember if the first one (fumble) was against the 1st or second stringers though.

The scoring drive he looked good. I'll stay with that. he has a way to go, and I think we all knew that going in.

The question is whether we want this guy blocking us from drafting a first-round QB should he fall to us next year.

I'd very much hope not after what I saw tonight.

Well, I assume we'll be picking in the 20's at least next year, so I'm not worried about missing out on a top 10 pick of a QB.

Hopefully this puts an end to the "it's 2012 all over again" nonsense. 😂
I still have aspirations of 2012, but not cause of Milroe, Russ was much more experienced as a 3rd rounder, even drafted by the Rockies, Russ was only a 3rd rounder cause of his height, Russ reset the standard for what kinda guy could play qb, there were others too like drew Brees and Fran tarkenton, but I don’t think teams really started accepting short QBs till after Russ, like Kyler Murray and even Bryce young. And honestly after Russ I don’t really want another short qb…
