Mike Holmgren, Sterling Sharpe among Pro Football HOF finalists

Former Packers coach Mike Holmgren and receiver Sterling Sharpe were among the finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame chosen Tuesday.

He's not in yet, but if a coach gets in next class, itll be him!

Honestly surprised they picked him over Mike Shanahan, even though I believe Holmgren is more deserving.

Sort of. A lot of Ruskell's guys were instrumental in getting the team over the NFC West hump. Walter Jones wasn't his either, but at least he didn't bungle things up and trade him during holdouts.

Good year for him to get in too, because it would have gotten tougher going forward. Only one coach per year can make it under current rules, and the eligibility requirement for coaches was dropped from five years to one. That means next year, in addition to Shanahan, Marty Schottenheimer, George Siefert, and Tom Coughlin, he'd also be contending for a spot with some guy named Belichick and ironically, Pete Carroll. And things could get further complicated in the near future if someone like Andy Reid or Mike Tomlin abruptly retires.

Also helps that his coaching tree is pretty decent- Andy Reid, Gruden, Mora, Bowles have had various degrees of success in college and the Pros
