He's aware that the ball never reached the receiver & bounced forward off his player, right?

Right????

His comment in his friday radio show/podcast was that he couldn't imagine that anyone would disagree with him about this. That the current rule wasn't intended to EVER get this result. It sounds like it isn't nearly as unanimous as he thinks. I will keep pointing at a blocked PAT - a live ball with the possibility of either time advancing and scoring with it has always been part of the game. Why would that change for a two point conversion?

As an aside, having watched Brock and Salk talking with Mike Macdonald the day after games has spoiled me. Those are actual conversations with meaningful questions. The Mcvay show has a single person asking him questions....and they really seem like preapproved questions that Mcvay already has the answer for. I'm so happy to have the coaches that we have now.

.. I feel from former Rams players ie EJ, that if you weren’t kissing McVays ass or in HIS good graces it’s only a matter of time before your shown the door. McVay wants people who don’t or won’t challenge or hurt his ego and football knowledge.

He's the biggest head coach baby in the league. This is the moment when he lost credibility when it comes to officiating. It's a travesty that he's on the competition committee.

"It was a bang-bang type play. The one thing I respect about the refs today is they let the guys compete and they let the guys play. I thought Nickell Robey made a nice play. They snapped it with a quick snap and had a little wheel route coming out of the backfield. I thought it was a competitive type play and I am certainly not going to complain about the way that was officiated. I thought it was a competitive play. I thought they let the guys compete within the framework of the rules and that is what NFL football is about."

Fans get it, the media will continue to get on their knees for the guy.

At least Shanahan gives credit to his opponents.

It's funny how Mike Holmgren gets stigmatized after commenting "Didn't think we'd have to play the guys in the striped shirts too" after being completely railroaded in SB XL
But..., McVay loses a regular season game in OT on a rare but correctly called play and the league should change the rules?

I have far more appreciation & respect for Shanahan and the 49ers with their give 110% and play through injuries mentality.

The NFCW being the toughest division could put us on a crash-course with meeting both the 9ers & Rams in the playoffs in our SB quest.
If we win our 2nd Lombardi it will be well earned and a much deserved "Eat this" to the rest of the league.
One game at a time my friends.

If I'm being completely honest, I can see why someone would say that shouldn't be a TD in the spirit of the game, it was basically a fluke 2pt. But a head coach should be the last one to bitch about it, he should fall on the grenade and say it's his job to make sure his players know to always follow the ball.

The only thing flukey about that 2 point conversion was that it wasn't obvious while the play was happening that Charbonnet was behind Darnold. If he'd been standing a yard further back, and the defense realized it was a backwards pass and played it accordingly, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

The flukey thing is that everyone but Charbs assumed the play was over and didn't play the ball. Other than that it was a full-on by the book 2 point play.

The rule has existed forever. The only problem with the play is how the players didn't realize what happened because the ball happened to bounce forward. Still, no excuse for the Ram player who had the first chance at the ball to not jump on it. Also, Charbs should have been more purposeful in going for the ball.
