Could CBS mute Tony Rhomos microphone? When did it become normal for the play by play guy to do commentary, and the color guy to talk endlessly? It seems like the broadcast crew are trying to emulate Madden. If you watched football in it's glory years, the Play by Play called the game, much like what it sounds like on a radio broadcast. The color guy just threw in a few words now and then. Broadcasts are now a steady flow of words without pauses. The drama is in the game dumkopf. Not in the inflection of the broadcasters. SHUT UP once in a while.

Society of the spectacle my friend. We’ve been moving toward this since the late 70s and definitely by 1980

Don't we all know it, those who love the game anyway. I need an app that slightly mutes what the booth is saying and magnifies the sounds on the field.

Not sure how that's weird. I've been hearing that opinion all season.

I feel like I'm weird for wanting the Lions to get smoked. I'm exposed to their fans constantly and they've been insufferable this year. Would be extra funny if it was the Packers who did it. About an hour ago, I ran into two Packers fans at the store: a man wearing a Chmura jersey and a woman wearing a Clay Matthews jersey that appeared to be autographed (not sure why you'd risk that when we're getting obliterated with snow, but whatever), and had a nice conversation about it.

Yeah that’s the match up I want. However, the Bills don’t seem as explosive as they were the last few years, can’t see them coming through their next two games

Pretty sure that was a gameplan decision against Denver's defense. Buffalo was like the second best offense in the league, so I'm not worried about that.

Just need to make sure they don't poop the bed if they have to face KC like they have in the past.

Your bias for Ohio State, doesn't allow you to enjoy the Lions. I was that way for years, hating on Oregon, or WSU because I grew up rooting for the Huskies, even before TV broadcasts. Now I enjoy excellence in the sport, all sports. I have never watched an entire Super Bowl, except for when the Seahawks played against the Stealers. When they played again, I DVR'd the game and skipped the commercials, and halftime. That is how I watch most games now. It is a great game, when you cut out the commercials and blather. The Browns suck, and Bengals are exciting, but the owners will return it to the suckiness of the past. What a horrible State for Pro Ball. Ohio State should win the National Championship though. Go Buckeyes

I'm all for this but I like the Texans so I would not mind them.

I think it will end up being Lions/Ravens though

I don't know that it has much to do with my Ohio State fandom. I grew up in Michigan, still live here, and basically root for all their college teams to do well other than their big one. I did root for Michigan against Alabama though. The Pistons are my favorite NBA team. I never really even had any animosity towards the Lions, their fans here have just been really irritating the past two seasons. I remember the Millen years, I get why they're excited, but damn the vast majority of the Lions fans I'm running into talk like this is some dynasty. At least try to have some humility.

I do agree with what you said about greatness. I feel like I missed out on really getting to appreciate Tom Brady and Tiger Woods because I rooted against them very hard at their peaks when I was annoyed with their overexposure. With Brady in his SB win with the Bucs and Tiger at the 2019 Masters, I finally got to enjoy watching them and was like "why did I hate this guy so much?". I hated Lebron at first too, but at least with him, I did start watching and cheering for him during his prime because I sympathized strongly when he got all that ridiculous backlash for "The Decision".
