This stuff just might drive him to an early retirement.

Exactly.

The mediots are doing what they can to get that extremely rare actual comment on tape, so they won't be going away any time soon.

What a horrible thing to say. You may have no trouble showing disrespect for another person and what they personally stand for, but not everyone wants their private thoughts broadcast all over the world. If you've had your words printed and taken out of context, which can be embarrassing, you might understand. When you hear the sportscasters disrespect Lynch for not spilling his soul to them every week, you're hearing it from the point of view of someone who has very few scruples and are willing to bare their own soul for everyone to see.

No, Lynch doesn't owe YOU anything. He gave you his talent out on the field.

At this point it's just lazy journalism because it's easy for reporters to go to Lynch, knowing they're going to get this, so they can write a story about Lynch "disrespecting" the media instead of writing a well thought out story about the game itself.

I may be one of the few here but I do not believe he has any social anxiety that effects his interviews. What I believe is he has is lost trust and faith in the media especially any media from North America. If you go back a number of years Marshawn was in plenty of interviews pre-2008ish days. These years included his college years at Cal, pre NFL draft, and when he arrived in Buffalo. Everything changed when he made some poor choices in life and the Media blew up and ran with it what one could call "character assassination" . If you pull up old Buffalo news articles and read some of the opinions the journalist had you would be upset to if it was in reference to you.

It is well known that once you lose trust with Marshawn that it is lost for good. He has talked about that in great detail in a small documentary about his life that was on ESPN E: 60 (2:40 mark or so) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3cWjT9lpZc, I feel that is why he chooses not to talk to any media here except for those that he has trust with including Mike Rob. I believe he feels that the media will take what he says and turn it into something he isn't such as a thug, trouble maker, or whatever and it isn't worth his time to give them that opportunity. He sure seemed like his old self when interviewed by this Japanese reporter in recent years https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyTuIFGNNd0.

I have no issues if he doesn't wish to speak to the media nor do I take any issue with the replies he gives to the media now. I do appreciate the local media here respecting Lynch and not pushing his button unlike John Clayton and the other national idiots. I just find it hard to claim this is all due to anxiety of any sort. I respect the man both on and off the field and I want nothing more then to see him retire as a Seahawk.

The NFL is allowing this harassment to continue in an attempt to make money off him by giving fans what they think the fans want.

Until the fans make it cost the NFL negatively monetarily - this stupid ass media swarm to player to ask them stupid ass questions like "how does it feel to win"? "what were you thinking when you made that play"? (Are you f n kidding me) Will continue.
What fans want to hear this crappola?

He does actually in fact owe the media something. He signed a contract agreeing to do them and. Nobody forced him to sign it and get into a line of work that requires him to speak in public.

I think it's 1/2 and 1/2: he has some anxiety issues AND he's just being a contrarian ass.

Whatever the case, if I'm a reporter, why the F do you keep coming back? I understand if you were interviewing a politician who was dodging tough questions, you would dig in. But you're interviewing an athlete with whom you have no adversarial relationship. So what is the point of needling him for weeks after you know he's not giving you anything? At that point, to me, the media is just f---ing with him. How else would you describe it?

Wow. I'm not sure I've seen him THAT uncomfortable before. I felt like he was holding back from wanting to yell at the reporters. Not good. Leave the man alone.

Relax, Taco. Shawn isn't a douche. Way to let emotions troll you into an argument that isn't there. I think it's douchey when he knows that just a few words get him out of the situation--but he just makes himself that much more uncomfortable. Maybe I wish they'd leave him alone, but for that reason I guess I don't feel bad for him like some seem to. I support him in his amazing conviction and that he isn't going to talk. He's my favorite player on the team, but I'm standing by my statement. It's hilarious, but kind of douchey. I don't feel like he owes me anything and I never even hinted at the idea that he might, so take a play from Lynch's play book and just appreciate me.

Agreed he doesn't have a disorder. He's not nervous. He just doesn't want to talk to these reporters. Your guess, that he lost trust is more likely than anything else I've read.

I wonder if he could be diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder and whether the league would exempt him from having to do interviews he isn't comfortable doing.

The league didn't give an exemption to Ricky Williams.

Remember in New Orleans when Ricky would do interviews with his helmet on ? He has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder....he had real issues not just with the media, but a lot of strangers around him period. He took some medication for it, and said it made him feel numb, slow, and like a zombie.

Then he started smoking pot and that really helped him. The league wasn't so understanding: multiple suspensions, he was almost kicked out of the league, and no, no media exemptions.

These guys are numbers to the NFL. Guys will get shot up with pain meds to keep playing so the "product on the field" isn't degraded. Then the guy starts getting addicted to pain meds and the NFL will suspend him. The NFL doesn't give a shit about these guys, only the money these guys produce.

I think it's pretty funny. It's clear that he doesn't want to talk with the media. These reporters thinking he's all of sudden going to give a speech just astound me. There are 52 other players they can question. I'm sure many of those guys are willing to talk. This is a weekly routine and it basically makes the media look like a bunch of rabid vultures. Seriously, who keeps asking questions when someone is answering them with one word. Get a clue, mediots.

Wish these turds would just leave him alone.
"What was the song of the day on the way to the game marshawn?"

Yeah, that's some all star journalism there. Freaking NFL should be ashamed of themselves letting piss ants in a locker room with their junior high bullsh*t questions.
