About Haniger and Garver "We anticipate both buys bouncing back and being better than they were his year" Hallender said.
They hit for a COMBINED .190 batting average. This team is infuriatingly bad. TRASH and it will NEVER EVER get any better, especially with people like this guy and used car Jerry running the team. So that's two completely dead holes in the lineup right off the start that won't be fixed and people wonder why this team never gets any better. 22% of the lineup just pissed away into the void before they even start free agency. And that's just 2 players, just 1 more and you are giving up on 30% of the batting order.

Would the Dodgers or Yankees put up with ******* shit garbage players like this? Not a ******* chance. They try to improve their teams win or lose.
The Seattle Mariners are a group of professional losers.

I don't know why I even get annoyed anymore. I know they won't do jack shit to win.
Now they want to build a new arena for the Aquasox in Everett with taxpayer money. Go **** yourself chodes. Seriously **** off with that shit. It even says on the Everett page if they don't do anything they risk the team moving.
To be fair, neither of these guys are front line starters. Hannie is a 4th/5th OF and Garv is a backup catcher behind one of the best in the league. Until guys in the minors are ready - and the best I've heard is that Ford is 1-2 years away - matching other positions.

No guarantees either would survive spring training, either. I understand the frustration, but like you said, they haven't really started FA yet and the Winter meetings are in the offing.

We're just a very bad organization, from top to bottom, and we've got the record to prove it. There's no cause for optimism with this team. It's nothing but skepticism and doubt until they prove it.

I was certain the M's wouldn't win the division in 2025 either, until I saw DiBozo acquired the immortal Haggen Danner. The final piece we've all been clamoring for. Way to go Jerry.... Scouring that waiver wire for the next Jacob Nottingham, who he has already brought back to the organization for the 8th time. What's really sad about this organization is..... They COULD actually stun the baseball world & sign BOTH Bregman & Alonso. Even with regression & park factor, adding them to this lineup improves every other hitter & solves their offensive issues. Add a couple decent bullpen arms & they run away with the division.

Well at least the M's haven't been eliminated from the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes like several other teams have. But then again, they haven't been mentioned seriously as being in contention & probably haven't had an interview. Genius Jerry is dying to bring back Tommy Milone or Johnathan Diaz instead.

Because it's on purpose.

The ideal season for the Mariners is to enter a contest for both division lead and wildcard. Then lose out on both, just barely, at the end of the season.

That is likely the goal Mariner management set.
They want to avoid the playoffs as much as possible but still stay top ten in attendance and near that in merch sales.

And they have. For over 20 years, we only went to the playoffs once....briefly.

When they told us that was their goal over 25 yrs ago we didn't think they could pull it off. Seattle is a usually bandwagon town.

Seattle usually won't tolerate losers. But the Mariners did it. Credit where credit is due.

One of the biggest problems is gaslighting the fan base by the media. They continually push the narrative that it’s business as usual even though ownership continually lies to us. They don’t call them out on their BS nearly enough

Both Matt Calkins and Ryan Divish called ownership out in the last few weeks for their failure to address their needs in becoming a true WS contender. You have to give the media props where it's due.

Although this has been discussed before, Matt Calkins brings up some startling statistics on just how bad a hitters' park T-Mobile is:

On the road, the Mariners were actually above average in runs scored, while 21st overall. FanGraphs, which takes into account the parks you play in, gave the Mariner hitters a WAR of 21.3, which ends up being just a tad above average. But the most interesting stats had to do with how much better the pitchers were at home compared to on the road.

The team ERA was 2.85 at home, but 4.18 on the road. Not really as dominant as we thought. Andres Munoz had an ERA of 0.28 at home but on the road it was 4.28.

T-Mobile is by far the worst hitters' park in MLB. In fact, hitters do worse there (by 11%) than they do better (10%) at the best hitters' park, Coors Field. I think it makes sense to look at what is causing this and make the park closer to league average. If it's just cold damp air, then close the roof. If it's visibility, change the backdrop. Maybe bring in the fences. Hitters won't want to play here if it continues to be the worst place to hit.
