Mike blamed himself and coaches for putting too many wrinkles / complexity into the scheme which coincides with the short week to make a real problem. Since then it feels to me they are dropping into a more protective shell by default more often and limiting the big plays.I think the short-rest (Being on a Thursday following a Sunday game) played a major role.
The first meeting where they had normal rest, they held Stafford to just 130 passing yards.
It was a total of 249 yards total offense the Defense gave up that was only that much because Kyren had 119 and a TD.
Look for this game to resemble more of the First meeting but without Kyren being as effective, and without Sam tossing freebies to the Rams.
As a result teams are having a little more success dinking and dunking (best example is the Colts, Panthers had a little success on a couple of drives doing this too). This burns more clock and keeps point totals down. I expect more of the same Sunday vs the Rams. I don’t see 38-37
