It's not disproportionate because the media means EVERYTHING to the NFL.

I'm not 'OK" with $10K, either. As I said, it's a stupid rule and if I had my way, there wouldn't be any fine at all. IMO talking to the media should be optional, at least for the players. But it is what it is, and if there must be a fine, it should be on the lower end of fine-able transgressions.

My point was that it shouldn't be too hard to prioritize those transgressions and assign a graduated fine schedule to them according to their ranking. All it requires is a healthy dose of common sense, something that at times seems to elude the league.
