I definitely have no evidence to back up my opinion… I don’t want to work that hard. Unless someone wants to pay me?! I’m a great researcher and I’m great at rambling on without any real point….
OStatehawk fully endorses the BOLD portion.

That's exactly my point, thank you for agreeing.

Elite is a stretch on either of those factors.
The best measure of short area quickness is a 10 yard split time . Purdy measured 1.55 seconds which is in the 90th percentile for quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson was 1.54. Christian McAfferey is also 1.54

For processing speed they measure a S2 cognition test. Once again, Purdy is in the 90th percentile scoring similar to Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes

So yes he is is elite in both those categories.

Having said that , his physical tools being poor leads him to not be an elite quarterback. I don’t think he is elite , I think he is very good .

But define “very good”. I would define very good as top 1/3. So the top 1/3 in the league is going to be top 12 . Which is exactly where this contract is being paid and is also why I don’t have a problem with the number

I like Brock purdy. He is probably in the top 10ish in the nfc. It’s crazy how the highly respected QBs are mostly in the afc.

What sets him apart is he knows what he isn't and plays within those boundaries.

For the record, I've been great. This past week, I tied my longest streak of sobriety in 18 years, got taken off probation (3 months early) by the courts, and am more together than I thought was possible a year ago. So, thanks for making assumptions.

Purdy Shmurdy. ^ This right here is the best thing I’ve read on .net in a long time. I’m happy and inspired by your determination @Rat

It may be time to not equate a 50 mil burger with elite anymore. It’s just the going rate for a QB who gets the job done.

My initial reaction was ..”OVERPAY BABY”! That said, what were the Niners supposed to do with a QB who has a 23-13 regular season record, brought them within one drive of a title, and if not for a injury in the NFCCG, would have (more than likely) had them in a second Super Bowl?

Let him walk and grab another 6th rounder that can replicate his success?

I’m not sure what constitutes elite, but I’m pretty sure (and hope) it’s not Brock Purdy. I just think that within a span of a few years, 50 mil will be the cost of starting QB who doesn’t suck.

If that's the case, which I can see why you would think that... they basically got Darnold and Milroe for Geno.

Yep, that's smart roster construction. Moving laterally but getting younger at the starter (so still maybe room for a little more upside) along with getting an exciting lottery ticket (who will likely drive DCs crazy with the packages they'll have to prepare for).

Orlando, FL...for good.
In my opinion you moved laterally and got a draft pick
Plus saved considerable money. Where's the downside even if he IS a lateral move, which has yet to be established? Look, not all of us can be the 49ers with a history of intentionally violating the salary cap and shoving bags of money to guys under tables, ok?
