IMHO, the number one reason that the Niners had such an atrocious last year, was the ungodly number of injuries to key players.
I know, every team deals with injuries, but the volume of weeks simultaneously missed by multiple key players, at key parts of the season, really made it impossible for the team to play to their potential.
I know people here are going to dog on this as an excuse, but it has to be taken into consideration, especially when considering what the future might look like.
The question is, was it all wear and tear that has been repaired in one extended off season, or is it wear and tear that is irreparable, and will impact the current Niners in perpetuity.
This year, with the favorable schedule, and the extended off season, should answer that question
They had a big talent advantage in the NFC West in prior years. That's no longer the case. They do have the league's easiest schedule, though.
