Game winning drives are an extremely overrated counting stat. Derek Carr has more than Aaron Rodgers despite starting his career a full decade later and only having played in one career playoff game. Just two years ago, Geno led the league while going 8-7 for us, and second place was Russell Wilson in his second Broncos season, where he was so bad that the franchise chose to cut him and take on over $50m in dead cap. Kirk Cousins set the all-time record in 2022 with eight after having seven over the previous five seasons combined. He followed that up with zero the next season in eight games and then had three last year before getting benched. Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, and Daniel Jones have killed it in that stat. Ben Roethlisberger led the league in them with seven in his last season at age 39 when he could barely throw. It's a stat of opportunity and a lot of QBs in position to get them in high amounts don't often have their team in position to rack them up, kinda like how great cover corners don't usually have great INT numbers.
If people can provide something showing that Purdy is consistently failing in clutch situations, I'd certainly be willing to amend my stance, but there is surprisingly little showing that high numbers of 4QC and GWDs correlate with team success from year to year.
