Mitch is one of the best interviewers I've ever heard. Yeah, I'm crossing genre's too, he's up there with Charlie Rose. But, he gets annoying.

I just cant really do sports radio anymore. They don't know anymore than me and aren't funnier or more entertaining than most of my friends; so why give them attention?

and he is on track to miss 8 last year and could miss as little as 11 this year. 19 games missed over 2 years is a lot.
If that's not injury prone, what is?

Mitch is a tard! All of the sports radio dinks in this town are. They are LOVING this Harvin situation, angry callers and them stiring the pot equal ratings, sadly!

What do you mean by Boo? I'm only like that when I first wake up in the morning.... Outside of that I'm usually a "Class Act" and living in Idaho, but originally from Washington.... I just moved to Seattle a couple months ago, the sports talk here is a little too un-serious. I dont want to pay for satellite radio. i guess im stuck.

You moved here during the football offseason, to a city with no NBA/NHL team (and some would argue no MLB team the last 10 yrs), so sports radio will mirror that. Wait until our first loss this year and KJR/KIRO will sound like a morgue/wake and be very serious...

Both of you have points. Given the lack of NBA/NHL and the suck of the Mariners, you're not going to find super serious talk this time of the year. Things will definitely pick up during football season.

That said, Seattle sports radio is in fact overly casual and easy going. I'm sorry, but I can barely listen to any of the shows for more than a segment or two. They're more concerned with being jovial and conversational than getting down to the nitty gritty and talking sports. 710 has this terrible edict that every show needs to have an off-topic non-sports segment. Most of which are some of the worst radio you will ever hear. Brock and Salk were successful with "Answer the Question, Jerk", and I'm guessing that's where it came from. But it's just awful in the hands of people like Jim Moore, Dave Wyman, and Bob Stelton.

Speaking of the now departed Mike Salk. He was the closest thing we had here to East coast style, serious sports talk. And go figure, his show was far and away my favorite. Sadly though, given the misery/lack of Seattle sports, the local stations feel the need to have people talk about a bunch of nonsense. I've listened to local sports radio since I was in middle school back in the mid-90's. I don't think I've ever listened to it on a less frequent basis than I do now. It's really just terrible across the board. Sad.
