When Warner talks, he sounds like someone who had three times as many concussions as he did. Nothing he said in this segment is wrong though, or should even be considered all that controversial. Nearly all the talk about the team's ceiling with Geno is based on hypotheticals of what can be improved around him. All we can do is try to make those improvements and then wait and see if it's enough. The situation will never be perfect for Geno, so the question will be if he can be good to elevate the team above them when they inevitably arrive.
That was my point in a round about way which is why I tried to make the point that he made us all happy in good fun. Keasely took it ultra personal and turned it into a weird Geno rant.

And to answer his "I hope it doesn't hurt too badly when Geno blows up with a new line and running game" No one is rooting against Geno and I hope if he's the guy he throws for 35 touchdowns and lights it up. Why people make this personal or a us vs them debate is wild to me. I hope as much as anyone he improves on his 1 TD and 1 INT per game stats too and he better if he's back next year.

it’s kinda crazy how polarizing GeMaybe is. It’s possible to want you’re team to win but think your QB is not good at the same time

I will say though it is odd that Geno's biggest hate base here are the same ones still singing Russ's praise...and vice versa i guess...im sure there are some that think Russ would walk in here right now and be better than Geno.

I think it's odd that anybody thinks Russ has anything at all to do with opinions of Geno at this point.

If you're going to say it that way though then you need to say it in reverse. The biggest Geno supporters are the same guys saying Russ Sucked and was carried by everyone else.

The idea that Russ would be better than Geno isn't that far-fetched. Go look at their stats last year. Russ was better in many ways. I'm not sure who would be better, but neither would be good enough at this stage of the game and I wouldn't sign him to an extension either.

I think both guys are still "good" but I wouldn't want to sign either guy because historically extending guys in their mid 30's has a terrible track record of working out and it tends to be what bad teams do.

Elite QBs elevate the play of those around them. Who's play has been elevated because of Geno? He's a really good QB. But that's all he is. He isn't elite in any way.

I loved watching Kurt Warner as a player. I wish him every future success. That said he advocated for Trey Lance as a Draft pick so he's not always right about QBs.

I love catching up on all these threads on a Friday night…all these clever and interesting takes are so fun to read! And the innovative nicknames like GeNO and GeMaybe, and GeWiilikers are so well thought out!

So impressive and fun! Amazing stuff! What an awesome group we have here!!!

Even the elite arent elite when they dont have reliable protection (ask Patty Mahomes and Jared Goff), to say nothing for what competent playcalling and coaching can do (ask Sam Darnold... and Jared Goff).

But sure, keep on beating the dead horse, defining Geno by what he's done with a turnstile of coordinators, no run game, and no protection.

Its funny how when Kurt blasted Russ for not being able to do basic NFL QB stuff and saying squarely that Seattle would never win anything meaningful again until Russ played better (ie - Russ was the limiting factor), he was labeled being lazy and 'hating'. Now, his words are gospel...

Ha.
For giving two examples of each, you sure picked one that's not accurate at all. Jared Goff could not use either protection problems or poor offensive coaching as an excuse in any of the years or games he has struggled. Less than perfect and elite all around him, sure but never terrible. And even when he was struggling he was far more accomplished than our guy even when he and his contract were a negative asset in a trade. It's not like 2022 was Geno's first chance to impress either, and both the Giants and Chargers had him for awhile and said they wouldn't even give him a chance to be a cheap reclamation successor to a star (or even a bridge). It's not like the Jets reputation is new.
