Moon/Raible n the Radio said KPL was the fastest LBer in the draft at 4.41s 40YD.

Moon was kind of bumbling like an idiot that last game... so who knows if he meant 4.51s... its also possible they are privy to the private workout numbers.

Actually, we need it in a GOOD way.
What these super fast guys really need, is to learn how to work in tandem, and that's going to require the Coaching to put some packages together, and put that speed to good use.

Best answer. Aaron Curry was a fast linebacker, fast for his size anyway, but it didn't do squat for him because his pass rushing techniques were virtually non existent and he took bad angles. I'd rather have the linebacker that might be a little slow afoot that's always in the right place or that knows how to get to a QB than one that clocks a great 40.

Speed in a linebacker is a similar argument to arm strength of a quarterback. It's better to have a strong arm than a so-so arm, but quick release and accuracy are more important attributes.

Anthony Simmons was a very fast LB but couldn't find a way to stay on the field.

Looking at the 40 yd times for the LB corps - they are faster than many receivers.

Speed isn't everything. Coaching and instincts are huge in LBs. I didn't think KPL's college tape looked that great, but he looked good last week in limited action.

Especially at inside linebacker, whoch all these were/are......inside LB's need to be more technically sound, take on and shed blockers, stuff the hole and blow up plays.....Lofa Tatupu can be put on this list too....he was very effective his early years and his 40 time was 4.73.

And we'll be better off for it. Bruce is not a linebacker. He doesn't have good football instincts, he doesn't get off blocks, takes poor angles, and isn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to smarts. Line him up on the edge on 3rd downs like we did in his rookie year and end the LB experiment. He's a good situational pass rusher and that's about it.
