Is anyone else concerned? The past two weeks we got burned on a return for TD (SF) and a big return at end of game (KC) to put a brown stain on my shorts. I hope we get this cleaned up before playoffs.

Hell yeah I'm concerned, that run back could have got KC back in the game if they had converted that onside kick. It's happened far too often lately.

I was yelling at my TV kick it out of bounds don't give them a chance to return it!!! Flash backs of the 49ers game popped into my head.

Special teams needs work in that department

Been a problem for a couple of years. Personnel is not always disciplined and coaching strategy is questionable. I think Pete needs a fresh special teams coach next year.

ST has been a bigger liability the last couple of years than most fans are probably willing to admit, the outlier has been Dickson of course. ST cost us the redskins game last year, an it cost us the niners game this year, Sea bass has obviously cashed his retirement check an doesn't give a shit anymore hence is lame attempt at a tackle in the return TD, I don't even want anything less than a touchback anymore on kickoffs, we seem to always draw a flag on every kick return, coverage has been awful, I'm really hoping Brian Schneider is let go

I was hoping last off season but I was okay with trying one more time with fresh bodies along with the new rules. But kickoffs and all return packages are blah. Need something.

Well... I'm thinking you should just wash that brown stay from your pants. :2thumbs:

Kick coverage is a concern, but one thing you have to remember. Kick coverage is often filled with 2d tier players, until starters start getting injured, then you're getting 3d stringers and emergency replacement players out there. Coaching them up, even on the fairly simple schemes of kick coverage can be a challenge.

Does it need to get better? Certainly. The one good thing to remember though, if they keep scoring TDs and holding opponents to FGs, things like Figgies and coverages are less critical. ;)

I am bumping this because our special teams sucked the royal big one this game and it almost cost us the game. I know it was relatively meaningless but I would rather be 10-6 than 9-7.

I am also adding the blocked punts to this as well.

No argument from me. No blocking on the line, crappy coverage on kicks. We dodged a big old bullet on that one.

I know it's not chic to criticize our golden punter but I thought the 2nd block was at least partially on him. Looked low to me.

I think he might be a half tick slow compared to other punters. Just a thought. Maybe all of the drop kick practice messed with his timing. Regardless, there's really no excuse for letting rushers through like that. The line sucked today.

That right side was getting blown up all day, I don't know who it was that was playing on that side but he should've been subbed for someone else

It wasn't low, Hill has to shove his blocker instead of just absorbing the pressure. Allowed him to extend his arms - the punt didn't have a chance.
