I watched every home snap that Easley had and he was a force that our opponents could not ignore. He was vicious, smart, and effective. The team Dr. gave him kidney failure by giving him massive doses of Tylenol, ( ithink).. Easley had nothing to do with the team until Paul Allen bought the team and the old guard was gone. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was and will always be one of the Best Seahawks in history! Love ya Kenny!

There’s also a warning in this gang - know your meds and their side effects - even OTC drugs. Ibuprofen (Advil) is incredibly hard on the kidneys, and that’s what put Easley into kidney failure. I am a runner and I know other runners who pop it daily - they even jokingly call it ‘vitamin I’ - and I tell them to stop. I am also a kidney donor, and when they took my kidney the doctors told me I could never, ever have another advil - not even one. I’ve seen Tylenol mentioned in a few of these posts. That was not the culprit here, but Tylenol (acetaminophen) is destructive to your liver, especially if taken in proximity with alcohol.

Oh no!! I just saw this. First Tez and now the great Kenny Easley. My heart hurts. Absolute legend who passed far too soon.

RIP Kenny. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the memories.

I bow to you for being a kidney donor. May you live long and happy.

Was going to mention it was ibuprofen, not paracetamol (our name for acetaminophen)... at least aspirin (acetylsalycilic acid) "only" attacks your stomach!

Just read about this and it has hit me hard. Easley is one of my all time favorite Seahawks.
He was such a bad a$$ on the field. One of the first 'enforcers' we had and he scared the crap out of receivers who dared to go across the middle.

Truly sad to hear about Easley's passing and my thought and prayers are with his family during this sad time.

I am wearing his jersey today to honor him in my own way.

RIP #45

This is the second post that mentions Tylenol inaccurately.

It was actually Ibuprofen.

Tylenol is metabolized through your liver, Ibuprofen via the kidneys.

End result was kidney failure.

I didn’t see this post before I briefly mentioned the Acetaminophen vs Ibuprofen aspect.
Thank you.

I’ve read before (multiple times but not sure exactly where) that Kenny already had kidney problems and that the high dose Ibuprofen exasperated it. Ultimately leading to complete Kidney failure.
He endured dialysis and did receive a transplant at one point.
Kenny also had some cardiac issues and had a triple bypass some years ago.

Not much out yet about what actually caused his death but I have to assume he just wasn’t healthy overall (relatively speaking).

Certainly almost impossible to not mention him as a top 5 all time favorite for any of us old timers.

Kenny was an incredible talent. No doubt had he had a complete career, he would be the unanimous standard for the position. We all love Kam and ET3, but Easley was the two of them combined. He was impossibly quick, caught the ball like an all -pro wideout, and hit like a freight train.

Wen first saw him as a Bruin the year after the UW won the '78 Rose Bowl. It was a deluge at Husky Stadium and no one could move the ball. He returned a punt for the only td. ThenWe got him! What a great player.

Imagine the penalties that he would receive if he played his style in today’s NFL.

Easley had the speed and range of Earl Thomas and the brutality of Kam Chancellor.

He'd be an All Pro in any era.
