Looking at these contracts where players are making way more money than they'll ever need for the rest of their life in just one year, I think we have found at least one thing that could potentially be cut in order to help pay for new stadiums if they are needed.

"I'll probably be with a different team in 2026"

Meant that to say, I highly doubt the Hawks will pay him as much or more than JJ got with this deal 2 years from now.

Why punish the players...You should be going after the greedy owners for the high ticket prices and holding city for ransom. With that said, i've always been on the boat in trading DK for high draft picks. He has the talent but a total mental case at times. Plus we dont use him as much as we should.

DK is fully occupied with getting familiar with the new offense. He's currently getting paid and under contract for the next two seasons.

The announced Justin Jefferson extension will have no bearing on DK's season.

I don't really see it as punishment. They can either accept the new system of cash flow that doesn't pay as much or go find another job.

Here's how I see it. Owners should fund new stadiums themselves. If the issue is that it's too expensive even for them and the profits they are making, then the players and coaches should start being offered less money. It makes sense, because in this type of system the owners aren't making as much profit because they are paying for new stadiums to be constructed every 20 years.

When I keep seeing these escalating contracts of intergenerational wealth being brought to conclusion, don't tell me inflation is under control, or that the divide between the haves and have nots isn't widening to a maddening degree.

This season will have a lot to do with what the Seahawks are willing to pay him...obviously. We, realistically, don't know how much patience the new coach will have if history repeats itself with some lapses in judgement. He has a lot of value on his current deal, both to the Seahawks or as a trade next off-season. JS has to figure out which value is higher. JSN having a 5th year option may allow DK to stay in Seattle that much longer. At some point though, it'll be tough (not impossible, but I just don't see it) to pay them both their market value simultaneously. If that's the odds-on expectation, timing could play out any of the next few off-seasons even with an extension..

Too late. It’s out of control. Watch the spectacle before it crashes and burns. Or just tune out early and gain more productive time.

Maybe some are hoping that DK will have an issue? He won't. This is football, the next guy up is gonna' make bank. Meh burger, as usual.

It’s gotten to the point where this is Monopoly money in terms of it’s genuine relevance.

It’s clear though that these highly paid players will need to deliver or they won’t be kept around for long. Minnie will soon regret paying this player that much with no QB to throw the ball to him. I doubt though the player will regret getting paid.

Well the displayed contract numbers are always Gaudy these days, thing is many have incentives as well as benchmarks they have to reach such as attendance, snaps and amount of plays and then a matter of being on the roster on specific days. Few reach the total amount of the initial signing we see. The ones that get whole contract guaranteed are guys like Rodgers, Brady, Wilson ( can't help but snicker) whether it's payouts in Bonuses early or closed loop Like Wilson.

So that people who are even richer get even more money?

I want owners to fund their own stadiums. Completely. No tax dollars. If they need a $5b stadium to be built every 20 years, and that's too expensive, then they need to work with the NFL and look into cutting expenses. The first thing that should be cut is player and coach salaries, especially the top earners. AKA people who are also very rich. As opposed to sticking taxpayers with the bill.

Right now, the owners are getting richer due to tax payer funded stadiums. Then that money spreads to the players and coaches who are making 10x - 200x more than your average person. It's all ridiculous. The taxpayer funded stadiums basically help all these rich people get richer.

Yes, the owners are making the most, but these contracts where players are making dozens of millions of dollars is also ridiculous. I know there's a lot of clauses in these contracts, but if a player nets even $20m throughout their entire career, thats more money then they'll ever need in their entire life. I'm not saying we should cut the lower end of player salaries.
