I posted on this a couple years ago when Fields was with the Bears and now he is a free agent. I know he has some holes in his game but I think he would be a perfect fit for the Hawks. It all comes down to what it would take to sign him. I have to imagine that he is not happy with the Steelers after they gave the starting QB job to RW even though they were winning with him in. 26 years old and they were 5-2 when he was the starter. Young and mobile dual threat QB that could definitely help mitigate any offensive line issues..I liked this guy when he came out and still think it would be a good fit. Plays perfectly into the ground game, TOP game that it seems like the Hawks are moving towards and would cost way less that Geno.

I think you've linked every player in the league to the Raiders in the past month. Unless something was passed that im unaware of, I think they only get the standard 53 roster spots.

I honestly don't get the market for Fields....for sure there are some parts of his game that needs refinement gut the dudes only 26...he's 2 years younger than my son who is currently living with me...
By refinement do you mean being able to throw accurately? If it was simply a matter of footwork and arm angles shouldn't that be fixed at this point?
Also I don't care for Geno's turnovers but Fields has even worse decision making on top of his scattershot throwing. Maybe he figures it out but I'd say its pretty unlikely at this point.

Dude is just awful. If you're getting beat out of a starting job by a washed up ME3, you suck. He is not a starter in this league. There are 4 or 5 better QB's in the draft.

So you think that a 26 year old guy can't improve? A 10% change in passing accuracy equates to about 1 pass per game difference, sure that 1 pass could be super important but is it worth $20 mil per year? If I am the Hawks I am not looking for a guy that can give us the status quo...I am looking for someone we can take a shot with and fits within our salary cap restrictions. Plus we get to screw the Steelers for jacking him around in the first place.

I mean, its not impossible. Geno made it on his third try. Its pretty rare though. At the right price and in a tough spot I could see talking yourself into it. Wouldn't be my first choice though.

Is it really that much of a stretch though...I never got why Pitt moved on from him to Wilson when they were 5-2 with him. If we are shifting to a ball control defense oriented team is there a better fit?

I don't think Fields to Hawks will happen, based on the following:

Chip Kelly's ideal QB is someone like Justin Fields, a mobile QB with strong arm and running abilities. If I were Fields, I will take less just to play under Chip.

Chip Kelly scouted Geno, even travelled to West Virginia with the then-owner of the Eagles just to talk with Geno. BUT, Chip passed on Geno twice in the draft.

I think the Raiders will go after Feilds.
