just a bad ass teammate all around. He makes way under what a lot of quarterbacks make that are not nearly as good and less than most of the team and he goes out i'm not sure if it was something microsoft did, or if he bought them(wouldn't surprise me if he bought them all), but got his offense all xbox one's. i know the other stuff he does is a lot more important and already shows what an awesome guy and teammate he is, but that's just cool no matter how you slice it.

Don't worry, Russell's payday is coming. I can't remember what his third-round rookie contract is, but it's relatively paltry. I see him on TV so much--I'm sure he's making a lot of money doing commercials. Sherman probably is too--he's also in his rookie low-pick contract and has got a payday coming from the hawks. I'm about to enjoy me some nog. I bet you already have, neveky. ;)

He actually is well set up financially thanks to his baseball contact not counting what the Rangers will be paying him. If I remember correctly his signing bonus with the Rockies was 3 million.

He returned that money to the Rockies when he went back to football (and it was something like $200,000, not $3 million). I don't think the Rangers are under any obligation to pay unless he signs a playing contract with them, which he won't.

Not so sure about the Rangers. From what I read, they thought of him as a motivational speaker or something, not necessarily a player. He won't make big bank, of course, but he'll get some scratch if he does that in the football offseason.

He's been making some bank on the endorsements, TBS. Frankly, MS probably fronted the hardware for that gifting, anyway. It's pretty good pub for them.

I'll have to recheck my baseball guys but I do know 200k is wrong but I didn't know he gave his signing bonus back. That is in no way expected or required but would be a typical Wilson move anyway.

As for the Rangers? They really do want him to be involved in the organization as a motivational thing which I see no reason he won't accept from there the financials aren't our business.

There is absolutely no way RW got $3M from the Rockies. ZERO. Those types of bonuses don't happen to guys outside of the top half of the 1st round. He was not that type of prospect.

He maybe got a few hundred thousand in which over half went to his agent/taxes. So no, he's not set up financially because of baseball.

Like I said I will recheck the figure with my baseball friends they probably meant 300k. But it's not that important to me to find out right now given the man has all the money he needs and either will get that 100 million or close money in 3 years or if the unmanageable happens use his education plus other opportunities to be just fine.

What does intrigue me is him giving the money back. I thought the signing bonus was yours but it's baseball so my knowledge on minor league contacts isn't solid.

Russell had to return a portion of his 200K signing bonus from the Rockies. He didn't have to return all of it: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2013/b ... index.html

No idea what portion it was though.

Nice Avatar :th2thumbs:

Good chance Russell is sponsored by Xbox, he was promoting it during the bye week.
Maybe he didn't have to buy any of those. Would not surprise me if he did though.

It wouldn't surprise me if he couldn't get a little money fronted to him based on the ridiculous payday he's about to get.
You know? Kind of like college atheletes . :sarcasm_off:

From the Denver Post 6/29/2011, the penalty was written into his contract. No mystery.

The Rockies are protected if Wilson, a fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, chooses to pursue a football career. If Wilson doesn't return it triggers a penalty provision in his contract, forcing him to forfeit slightly less than 50 percent of his $200,000 signing bonus.

He could do endorsements with a Ranger Uniform and Seahawks a lot like Bo Knows. They pay him a salary to promote and things for the team. Easy Bank.
