Some Of Which You've Already Know.

On Offense:
1. Vertical Passing Game. Early and often. Get Williams out there stretch the field, tire out that Texans D.

2. Roll-outs and Bootlegs towards J.J. Watts side. Let Wilson manage Watt 1 on 1 by keeping him in front of him rather than Watt flushing Wilson into faster defenders or wreaking havoc on his blindside.

3. Utilize the Play-Makers. Lynch, Rice, and Miller are good for possession stability but the Texans D is good enough to take away those players. I want to see Bevell use Tate, Baldwin, Kearse (if healthy), Williams, Willson, and Michael effectively. Especially Michael, his athleticism + play-making ability stacks game-breaking momentum.

4. This would be a good game to rely heavily on some read-option as well as some gadget plays.

5. Run the ball, stick with it as much as possible, but Bevell shouldn't hesitate to mix it up with a dink and dunk passing game if the running game isn't working. Realize this sooner rather than later.

6. Most importantly don't let the O-line become "the excuse", these guys need to bring it with 300% effort.

On Defense:

1. Keep doing what they do best, and try to put in their most dominate performance yet.

2. I want Quinn to get creative with his pass-rush without blitzing... Schaub is quicksand compared to the other QBs we've faced so far.

3. Don't get bullied in the running game. If we handle Foster, good. If we crush Tate, it will break the Texans confidence for ball control.

Special Teams

1. Just keep doing what they're capable of but if we can get some big time plays from this unit. It will go a long ways in demoralizing the Texans.

Seattle Seahawks:

I know "they know" but hopefully they realize what they have in front of them:

A) to be the first Seahawks team to go 4-0
B) to keep a perfect record in 10 a.m. starts and another notch in their belts against the perception that they can't win on the road even though Wilson and the team is 4-1 since losing to Miami in 2012.
C) this might be the hardest match-up/toughest opponent the Seahawks will face in the regular given the circumstances but the team needs to stay on schedule, compete, keep penalties to a minimum, win field position and ball control, limit mistakes and capitalize on opportunities when they present themselves.

If we are going to use a lot of RO then Russell has got to run the ball allot. The NFL has ruled that it's legal for the D to "T" of on him if he hands it off and Houston will make full use of that rule change. He is better off keeping the ball and running than standing there after the hand off to get blindsided.

Games like this usually go counter to expectations. If there's a low-scoring affair expected, you'll see high-scoring. If expectations are one team focus on the running game, they come out throwing.

But...

I think the Seahawks find away to gash the only weak spot in the Houston's defense, the secondary. Roll-outs, RO passing, play-action, etc.

Good post...

(PS who needs a PB Tackle when you have Zach Miller? Zach Miller, the only TE in the game who can realistically be trusted to single-block and end. Yeah, we have him, it's okay)

I think you are mis-stating the rule. The D can only hit the QB if he is carrying out a fake. So, if RW is going through the motion of holding onto the ball at the mesh point with the intent to deceive the D, then he's fair game. Or if he pretends to pull the ball and run with the intent to deceive then he can be hit. They can't hit him just for handing the ball off and standing there.

Have the Texans ever faced the read option before? I can't think of any AFC teams that ran it last year.

I know teams are more prepared for it this year, but I have to think that it will take some time seeing it live before being able to effectively stop it.

I understand what you are saying but if the QB does not carry out the fake then there is no point in running the play. At that point its just an off tackle hand off.
and who said the Texans secondary is weak? I mean they have ED Reed back there don't they?
