I saw that video, the guy kind of led JSN in to that. "Do you think you should be the highest paid WR in the NFL?" He was in his home town of Rockwell, Texas, at a Marina, take it easy on a nice, sunny day. So I don't see that as a bad thing from our WR.

Also keep in mind, if he says publicly that he's willing to take less than he could make on the open market, his colleagues and the players union would be furious. Maybe when the time comes, he'll be willing to structure his deal in a way that helps the team in certain ways, but nothing he has said so far should make anyone think less of him.

You honestly think JSN is highly replaceable? Hmmmm
JSN is awesome, really do think that. I also think there is a line where it becomes detrimental to the team as a whole to pay him top dollar.

By the way this is why JS doesn't like sinking top dollar into the guard position.
It's a spot you can find ways to get by.
He gets evicerated by many here over this but I agree with his philosophy.

You can't pay every position top dollar it's not possible.

Worth it. I hope we do make him the highest-paid. These guys should never give discounts.

Exactly...... JSN will be the highest paid WR, until next year, when someone else sets the market.

I'm glad none of you guys are GM of the Seahawks.

I just hope we don't see a bunch of people start turning on the guy. Pretty par for the course when a contract is coming up.

I said what I said.

Worthy, yes, but Rat makes a really good point.
He does make good points when he isn't being a dick. 😂

But yeah. If you want a player to stay, he needs to paid what he's worth or very close to it.

The last thing you'd want to do is pinch pennies.

You do that, you lose the player and as a result, your team gets weaker.

The old saying "You need to spend money to make money" isn't just a catchphrase.

Yeah, you could be trading a down to earth guy dedicated to his craft for a diva or lazybones who thinks he can get by without putting in the work. The separation JSN gets off his cuts is unreal, and he sure opens up the field for the rest of the receiving corp.

We're already paying MVS to do nothing, and Dee Eskridge washed out. It could take some time to get someone serviceable.

And look how he is even if he has a game with less touches. He doesn't care one bit. He was smiling his a** off in the SB and he had a pretty mild game statistically. Dude wants to win over anything. How many top WR's are like that? Very few, imo.

Dudes like POOKA or AJ Brown or Aiyuk bring a team down, big time. This kid is a leader. This kid is a total team player. This kid carries himself with class. You've never ONCE heard him complain about touches. You've never ONCE heard his teammates say a single bad word about him.

You don't just grab random Free Agent that brings his leadership, let alone his incredible play on the field.

Funny you mention that. There was a breakfast place in Seattle called Biscuit Bitch, no joke. I think there's more than one of them. Killer food. And reading the menu is hilarious. When you walk in the door, they say "Morning, bitches"

I'm usually against paying top position players, but in his case what he brings to the table even when not being thrown the ball as well as locker room culture. He is worth it at this current time.

Okay so doing a little simple math, let's take that $2.716M and the $24.4M, and add 2 more years at $40M each. That totals $107.116M. Divide it by 4 and you have $26.78M per year. That would be a serious bargain for the team, (easy for me to say as it's not my money), and also give JSN and his family security against the possibility of a serious injury, god forbid.

Or you could even add a 5th year at $45M, which works out to $30.42M per year. Still a bargain from a team standpoint, even more security for JSN and his family, and he would still have recognition as being the highest paid WR in the league.

That seems rather simple and logical to me. Am I missing something?
I seriously doubt he'd play the 1st 2 years for a non-guaranteed option in years 3 or 4. Here's a historical list of players the Seahawks have agreed 4-year fully guaranteed contracts with, (outside of their rookie contract):

Worthy, yes, but Rat makes a really good point. Hawks fans, at least MANY of them turn on a dime if I player wants a big contract.
Can't fault a guy for wanting his. Not saying a bunch of people on here, but plenty out there who seem to live in some fantasy world that a player should just take way less money and want to stay here. Football is also a business, and players should try to get the best contracts they can.
You can both not fault a guy for wanting it and not think it is a good idea for the team to give it to him.
