This article quotes him saying that he wants to be the highest paid WR.

That would put him above 40 per year, according to the article.

I don’t know much about Heavy sports but this appears to be quoted directly.

Can we afford it, is he worth it?

I’m not sure what we can afford, and I’m not sure we can afford to let him walk.

This is a tough one. I didn't expect JSN to come out and say he should be the highest paid WR in the league. Wouldn't want to be in JS shoes right now. You can't really let him walk but how many teams with max paid WR's have won the SB? Not saying we shouldn't sign him to a long-term deal but not exactly the best news.

I'm a huge fan of JSN, just like all of us are. But stupid teams that are overpaying their receivers should not be setting the market for us.

Take a look at the highest paid receivers:

Capture

Bengals, Vikings, Cowboys, Jets, Commands, Lions and Dolphins - missed the playoffs.
Steelers and Eagles - one and done
Brandon Aiyuk - AWOL

As much as I admire JSN's game, the Seahawks are a better TEAM if we have multiple legitimate receiving threats. I'd rather pay K9 $14 million than pay JSN $40 million.

pretty sure it's a starting point. OTOH, how good would he be with Stafford sling passes to him?

Just as good, but if he were splitting reps with Puka, he'll get less overall tosses his way.

And how competitive could the rest of the Rams even be with those three salaries stacked on top of each other?!?

It happens with every team that wins the superbowl. Players want to be paid. I honestly dont blame him. If we cut Kupp it should lesson the blow. But he will be the only good receiver on our team. If we do this we won't be able to get help on the opposite side of him. As long as we keep Darnold at a reasonable price we should be able to make it happen.

Don’t cut Coop!! I love me some Coop and his leadership.

Ofc I would also love to keep JSN. John’s the GM of the year. Work that magic man!! In Schneider we trust!!

Purely speculation.

I'm torn between this one. The kid deserves it, he had a GREAT year for the Hawks

On the other hand, paying him that much on top of Witherspoon's extension when you also have a lot of FA's that you have to re-sign and/or bring outside talent in and only 4 draft picks this year?

JS, I hope you can work some magic. I hate to say this but I think there's going to be a heartbreaking trade in the near future with one of our beloved Hawks. When you win the Superbowl, you can't pay everyone. We've seen this before, and it happens to every team.

On the one hand he is saying we're going to win back to back SB's and on the other he says he wants team crippling money, all while saying he'd play the game for free... I don't know what to think to be honest.

You have no choice but to pay JSN. And thats not a bad thing. JSN is 24 years old, not even in his prime and an all around good guy with a good head on his shoulders. Elite WR, that just helped the team win the Super Bowl. You don’t pay JSN, kiss your chances good bye in winning anymore Super Bowls. Pay him and he will give Seattle his prime years! Elite WR, mind you.

JSN, is the best Seattle receiver since Steve Largent. It’s true, it’s true.

He will have to wait until new owners take control.

The team will not put large numbers on the books before the sale

For now the Seahawks can get a fifth option and hold his rights for two more years.

This sounds like it might be the play.

The new ownership situation has made things murky.

I see some flaws in this logic.

A new owner(s) is looking to buy the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks is probably valued anywhere from $9-$11 billion at the time of sale, and your telling me, whoever is willing to cough up possibly $11 billion is scared to pay JSN possibly $114 million in total guarantees??

If they are afraid or don’t want to pay elite NFL players maybe they shouldn’t be buying billion dollar NFL franchises then. Seems like they don’t know what happens when they buy NFL teams.

I’m guessing JSN will get paid and it won’t matter who is the owner when it happens, cause it will happen.

The thing is... all guaranteed money has to put in escrow. It's not chump change.
