I think he should have been gone long ago. Some absolve him of every stupid decision the team made when PC was here. I don't. He's the last person left I want off the team.
While I don't absolve him, it's hard to know just how much past poor personnel decisions were made due to PC veto threat or JS incompetence.

If the Oline sucks again (barring significant injuries) that would be it for me. Injuries happen and can be devastating (see 2024 Niners) so I'm reticent to link a firing to arbitrary win loss total. He shouldn't be untouchable to anyone here.

He’s terrible. He started the off-season $20M over the cap, with an aging QB, and a talented but mercurial WR. And by June, every position group on the team is better (save WR), the burgeoning D returns every starter and gains a well regarded DE and the freakiest athlete in a decade, the new coach has 90 of 90 at voluntary workouts, and the team is now sitting on $31M in cap. I can’t for the life of me understand why he still has a job. 🤦
Best post I’ve read here in very long time, complete, succinct, and funny.

Way too many variables to make it this simple. If the season is a failure, we need to consider the reasons why and lay the blame appropriately. Could be injury related, could be personnel decisions, could be a failure of coaching.

Regardless, team is in a wonderful position cap-wise and primed to build up. Schneider's recent drafts have been very good. I am not the biggest fan of this off-season - generally liked the draft, generally disliked selling low on DK and trading Geno out for Darnold (although I suppose it might not have been especially avoidable if Geno needed to be with Pete and DK wanted out regardless) but the facts are the facts. Young team, great cap position, young cornerstones to build around on both sides of the ball, and a young coach who appears to be both schematically bright and able to lead a winner. Schneider deserves credit for having this team primed to build into a sustainable winner, built in the classic GB style.

Fire him if he does something horrible outside of his professional duties or has a mutiny staged against him. Thats about it in terms of what I'd fire him for, honestly.

Great points ^
This is absolutely still a work in progress.
I can't help but think of the year before we won the SB. One defensive stop from beating Atlanta and heading to the NFC Championship game. They walked off that field motivated to get it done the next season, and they did. This feels like a team on the brink of being very good. If not in 2025, I could see them being a legit contender in 2026. Coach Mike is putting the team together his way. Just like Pete did.
Same as JS, he's had a back-to-back solid drafts, let's see how it looks at the end of 2025.

This is the first full off season he's had with the coach he chose. I think he's shown a lot of growth and an increased level of humility over the last year. His pivot at the inside linebacker position mid-season last year seemed to show some humility. LIkewise, he moved off his spot this year to take Zabel. Most importantly, he fixed the disconnect between the team as it is being being and the team they say that they want to be. I.E. Alignment.

Given what I know, I think he's done a great job since he's actually been in charge. He's one of the most respected evaluators for good reason.

Any coach/GM combo should be given at least 3 full years together. No honest assessment can be made with less time. 2023 doesn't count because of the late hiring.

If team performance is not trending substantially upward by the end of 2026 it will be time to seriously consider a complete rebuild, including the entire front office and coaching staff.

There are times when relationships break down very quickly and it just isn't going to work. In such situations there's no point trying to force people into seeing out their contract for 2 more years.

Speaking of Schneider :

I disagree with the statement that this is their chance to compete when the same D will return next season as well if all works out with Sam in Year one.

I get that teams overall have a tendency to move on too soon, but we're probably still sitting on 0 Super Bowl wins if Jim Mora gets 3 years here.

I don’t know much about the few free agents that were available this year, but I did see them on madden and they weren’t impressive, anyway, if it turns out JS just didn’t overpay a menh lineman cause we’ve already got a bunch of rookies that might be more than menh then that would be good for JS and his record
I also believe this to be the case. We all wished for an influx of super O-linemen free agents - they were just not good deals in JS's opinion.

I am riding with JS for a couple more years

That was from the era that shall not be named, the first time we tried to look “cool” … it’s like I just pretend that year didn’t happen cause I like the green

@toffee How are you feeling these days? I'm sure you're on cloud 9 like we all are.

It's surreal that we (as in the Seahawks, actually) DID IT.
