PC last 4 years of coaching 27-40 record.
MM last 2 years 24-10.
Things are headed in the right direction for years to come. These guys love playing for MM.
The Seahawks transition story runs a little deeper than that.
For me the first tell came from Jody Allen insisting on expanding the analytics department with the hiring of Becca Erenbaum and Peter Engler. It was an area where the Seahawks lagged behind the rest of the NFL.
Next came the replacement of a boomer head coach with a milennial head coach. I think that accelerated the transition toward embracing emerging digital tools. A side note is that boomer coaches Pete Carroll, Nick Saban and Bill Belichick all relinquished their head coaching jobs within a week of each other.
Another tell appeared with the contract extension of John Scheider. Confirming that Seahawks management was committed to completion of the organization's transition.
A recent tell appeared with the re-framing of questions from the press and interviewers along with a deliberate choice of words from Mike Macdonald. He's a good interview study. And as such, confirmation that an organization transition has been successful.
And bringing it all up to date, there was last night's championship game. Confirmation that the transition made its way to the field of play in the form of complementary football and relentless search for adjustments and improvement.
Although the brief summary above leaves a lot out,
the Seahawks rapid transition story over the last 3 to 4 years has been nothing short of amazing.
Well done and well worth the journey!
