The fact that JS hasn't won that with the magician like work he's done to put this team together is pretty funny.

Facts are he'll never win it either. That award doesn't go to the "now" established teams.

Was just thinking about that as I had a talk with a coworker who was "chicken littleling" about how we lost so many guys this year. Do you Really think were gonna stop finding Malcolm smiths (7th rounder), ADB and Kearse (UDFA) Sherm and Kam bam, (5th) RW (3rd)

And PC will never win COY either. The award only goes to the coach who takes a stacked team, that underperformed the season before, to the playoffs.

Belichick won three coach of the year awards after he had already established himself with a championship. Bill Polian won six exec of the year awards thanks to one draft pick he made in 1998.

Sure, the voters have been mildly retarded the last two years, but I wouldn't write off PC/JS's chances so easily. Pretty soon it won't just be Seahawks fans who will question continued snubs.

The award as it exists now makes little sense. Voters should be allowed to consider 1-3 years of team building.

That was also back before social media was the influence it is today. It was also before 24/7 football discussion on tv. Pundits fill so much downtime with BS, they talk themselves into a frenzy. The award hence fourth will always be given to the sob story, or comeback story.

JS and PC will both win Executive and Coach of the Year awards if this team has another 13-3 run after winning the Superbowl.

The reason why is because an already young team would have gotten younger with most of their older players leaving.

2, its hard to repeat success.

3, we have a much tougher schedule.

And why I feel they have a very good chance to repeat is because I don't believe we be in the same shitty injury situation we experienced in 2013 and I have faith all that young potential will step-up, be hungry, and produce more than I feel we'll have a let down due to complacency.

Pete Carroll and Bo Duke will never win awards based on all the PED 's and cheating we have to do to win.

Just ask any opposing fan or blog writer.

Not sure what social media has to do with Exec or Coach of the year. These awards are voted on by NFL executives.

We have been through this several times, but it obviously bears repeating

ABOUT THE AWARDS

Sporting News polled more than 800 NFL players, coaches and executives for our 2012 awards. Everyone voted for offensive and defensive player of the year, rookie of the year and comeback player of the year. Only coaches and executives voted for coach of the year, coordinator of the year, executive of the year and SN’s All-Pro team.

Because public opinion sways people a lot, even if we think we're immune to it. In this day and age of instant communication, it's impossible to not be affected by it.

The comment wasn't saying votes come from twitter. It was more to show how peoples quality in reporting has changed drastically in the last 5 years because everything has become, who can report it first. Not who can report it right.

No biggie.

Plus I am may be wrong anyway, looking at this closer, the AP NFL Coach of the year has 50 voters which appear to be writers (Sporting News last Exec/Coach of the year award was 2012 if you can believe the link below).

NFL Executives are not immune to public opinion but at least they are working in the same field with the guys they are voting for. Just like the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest. Not sure how the All-Pro selections are any different, though some folks give that more weight. Ex-players talking about a player's career usually mention Pro-Bowl over All-Pro.

My opinion is that NFL execs would be a little less persuaded by the feel good story, but yes, they are human so can be influenced by public opinion.

These are essentially 'most improved team awards'.

Its hard to pinpoint which year it should be, really. 7 wins, 7 wins, 11 wins, 13 wins just doesn't have that one 'sexy jump'. If it was an accumulative awards, JS and PC would get the recognition they deserve.

My theory here is it's a numbers game.

It sounds much more glamorous to say... "Player A has been to 8 Pro Bowls"... when he has been an All Pro for only one or two seasons.... which is very typical of a star player.

The total number of All Pro players each year is only 36 total... 18 on the 1st Team and another 18 on the 2nd Team... and I'm not so certain that the Second Team is taken into account when people talk about how many times a player has been voted as an All Pro.

By comparison, every year there are close to 125 players who get to claim the Pro Bowl honor... the original ones voted in and then all the alternates who step in and play the game itself, replacing those who were voted in and playing in the Superbowl... and those voted in but decline to play because of injury or any other reason that they make up.

Another example.... there were 10 Pro Bowl QBs in 2013... but only one true All Pro QB.

See, it's numbers game.

Would definitely be a 'nice to have' award, but I suspect that John's priorities make this low on his gotta have list. ;)

Perhaps a few years of this kind of success and he'll get it. Otherwise, there always seems to be some kind of favored son thing going on with the media. It's a lot like the Coach of the Year or comeback player awards. We don't command that kind of national respect or even attention yet.
