Ya I have been saying that for a couple years now. Just because a guy is good at something, it doesn't men you have to expand his role. M's do that too much.

I agree. For all the bashing I do of Dipoto (and he's earned every bit of it, imo), this is a fantastic deal for the M's. Great job on this one Jerry.

But I do agree with @NoGain that it seems a bit light especially with a week left to take offers. Jerry did work for them so maybe he still has some photos he used to 'persuade' them.
Hopefully he just loves the team chemistry, lights it up and wants to stick around. 1B has been an issue.

Naylor was a target in the off-season & DiBozo dropped the ball, letting him go to AZ. They always do this, screw up the off season & then try to scramble at the last minute. Just imagine if we had Naylor all year instead of going cheap with Tellez. DiBozo still needs another significant everyday player upgrade (not a scrub like Ryan McMahon) & 1-2 Major League caliber relievers.

There really isn't one. Even if one or both of those guys becomes an All-Star and Naylor walks after the season, it is a great deal. There is always risk, but this was worth any future result. The credibility alone that we showed we are willing to add high caliber talent will help us in the future.

Feels a lot like the Arozarena trade from last season. Got a really good veteran bat for not a lot.
Looking at his stats, he is everything the M’s need. Contact hitter, doesn’t strike out a lot and walks. Was a bit surprised he’s only at 1 WAR, is his fielding that bad?
