The offensive line really has the ability to ruin the entire season, and he's playing with fire. If the season is ruined because he didn't do anything to fix the biggest issue that everyone and their grandma can see, it would be totally justifiable to fire him.
Yes, but this is easier said than done. The offensive line has become a league-wide problem. There just aren't enough good players to go around. This is the opposite of what the O-line situation was 30 years ago when it was plug and play. Now with the defensive linemen getting bigger, stronger and more athletic, and colleges not preparing linemen properly because of the differences between the college and the pro game, we have a shortage of guys who are ready to play in the NFL.

Andrew Whitworth said that a big problem is the restrictions on the contact that coaches can have with players in the off-season. He says that young offensive linemen need more coaching in the off-season, and they're not getting it.

If you look around the league, there are 25 teams or more trying to "fix" their O-line, and a majority of them will fail again this year. Even the Chiefs most likely lost the Super Bowl due to their offensive line, and they had 3 great pieces there.

You don’t think the line was improving along the way? And you don’t think the offensive game plan was one dimensional? You don’t think GeNo stood there too long and would rarely run even though he was highly capable? You don’t think that most of the passes were no look throws to a spot where DK wasn’t at yet? I’m not saying Darnold is the future, but he is a humble leader who will fight. Geno won’t even write you back cause he so special with his god given body and superior diet…. Yeah ok go eat a rib eye

So do you fix it or do something else, if it can’t be fixed you better start game planning

He hired a new coordinator and Oline coach , that alone can fix a ton of issues. Grubb and Huff made that Oline look worse than it was. Even if he didn't add any more players, the oline is pretty young with another year of experience and better coaching

We’ve done pretty well in FA period and now have 10 picks. What’s he going to do, we can’t have 10 rookies, so you know trades are coming.
Why can’t there be 10 rookies on the team? If they draft 10 and those 10 beat out guys ahead of them, then essentially there will be 10 rookies on the roster.

Post of the day and should be referred to often. this is reality of the modern-day NFL. most oLines suck. These players come out of college completely unprepared. Not sucking puts you solidly in the middle of the pack.

There's the quote from Andrew Whitworth where he sees a terrible O-lineman on his team, and he says, "surely there's got to be someone better than this," but then it turns out there isn't anyone.

I'm willing to extend our new OC Kubiak, and his O-Line coach, a little more rope, after that last season with Grubb. Maybe Kubiak can get more out of the talent with a better scheme and better understanding of how to attack NFL defenses.

It’s offensive
The pessimist's view...
Clint Kubiak, after a debacle against the Rams D in the first game against them, when asked about his Offensive Line's execution:
"Yes, I'm in favor of it."

OK, so I'm hoping Kubiak and Co. will improve on the execution, rather than having more O-Line fatalities.
Credit to MacDonald and Scheider for improving the chronically poor Seattle defense in one year. Let's build on that success on the offensive side now!

We tried the Geno/MK way the last few years and it failed.

Klint and his crew have to be better than what we saw last year...NO?

I was making a joke. I’m optimistic. I believe our line improved at the end and Kubrick has to improve on what grubb did. The only way is up

Just ask Mark Schlereth. The problem is exacerbated by the no contact practice rules. One of the dumbest rules in the modern NFL that prevents bodies from adjusting to full contact, falls right in line with the pussification of modern society
