I would laugh for days if Browner gets to play in the playoffs. Just to spite the haters in the media that equate the abuse with cheating or some kind of crime. Especially the ones that are stupid enough to think the Hawks are going to fall apart because they don't have Browner or Thurmond. The 2 inconsistencies in the Legion.

I want to see a strong finish to the season so the haters have to eat their words. No better way to start than with a strong win over the Saints.

Forget the haters in the media, would be hilarious to see the haters on this board have to root for him again.

My question is if he wins, and there is no penalty, does he play again for the Hawks this year. In other words, I wonder if he can come back from the groin injury in time to make an impact if he does win the appeal...hmmmm....

I would have to think he still gets suspended, but just less games. He is not appealing his failed test. He is appealing where he is in the program.

This. He's still going to get 4 games. IF this stretches out long enough, he'd still be done here.

Yeah, smoking weed, maybe, and murder ... reasonable analogy.

Good point because people were at an actual risk of choking as you expressed it....

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, guy knows these forums too well and his use of the word sanctimony and then his following posts, clears it all up, talk about hypocrisy.

I've always liked Browner as a football player for the Seahawks, I hope his suspension is at least cut in half as I think a year is a bit much considering what we know.

Just remember, campers, that BB failed a recent drug test.

"According to Clayton, Browner isn't challenging his latest failed test but rather where he stood in the league's substance-abuse program" - from the base post article.

So he was still bad... for those who were ready to man the firing squad yesterday.

We still have a hell of a perception problem as a team.

Re: "perception problems."

Who cares? Why do you care what a media who would like nothing better than for you to lose and go back to your mediocre ways -why care what they say? The only people who have a perception problem, in this world, are the people who care. The patriots get caught cheating, literally. The saints are caught targetin players. The patriots have a player who is involved with murder, guns and thuggery of all stripes. Yet they don't have a perception problem. Browner lights up a doobie and the hawks are the anti Christ.

Still no word yet on his appeal. I don't know whether to consider this a good or bad thing.

With his injury and a delay it is actually a penalty on the Seahawks also, if he is done they could IR him now, not knowing he takes a roster spot and so no movement. Did see a Florio post on Pro Football talk that referenced it today also.

I wouldn't doubt that the NFL delays until Tuesday at the earliest if he wins the appeal and they knock it down to 4 games. That way it ensures that he can't play for the rest of the regular season. Or they only knock it down to 8 games and he's out for the playoffs and at least one game next year. I'll actually be surprised if he flat out loses the appeal with how long it's taking to rule on it.

$100 says BB isn't suspended for 1 year.
I believe Paul Allen's razor toothed lawyers are working on it in the quiet.
If healthy, BB will play in the playoffs.
Thurmond will also play in the playoffs.
Pete is playing it perfectly, but doesn't call the shot on some issues.

This has been an incredible year so far.

"@_BVM: Browner was advanced to Stage 3 of the substance abuse policy for missing tests while in the CFL 5 years. Tested clean 200 times since 2011."

There's gotta be something more to this. After fighting so hard to make it back to the nfl, why would he all of a sudden slip up?

My guess, and this is only a guess, as I know about as much about this as a floor mat, is you are correct. I think the NFL did what a lot of execs in big business do, and looked at the numbers on the first page without reading the entire report. Now that everyone is digging into this, and people who know the rules better than those who wrote them, they will back off. Just the chance of a civil suit that could cost them tens of millions is enough to get them jumping through hoops.

Having both of these guys back in the playoffs would be huge. Until then we will be fine.

200 times tested since 2011 then he knew he would be subjected to multiple tests this year as well, I don't think someone tested that much would not know how the system works or try to sneak one thru. Will be curious how this reads out with the actual facts.

How long ago since the positive test? If he got sidelined for 4-6 weeks then I could see him being like "they aren't going to test me now"

If before injury then I agree. You know you will get tested, you have been tested 200 times you don't smoke pot which stays in the system. So either something that flushes in 1-2 days or weird result. You really can't appeal the result (remember Sherman appealed the processes not the result)

Wow interesting, no comment on Browner issue by the ESPN staff nor Mike Florio, especially with the Monday Night game tomorrow night. You would think they would promote that a lot and give some background.

Browner was tested roughly 200 times while back in the league, but did not have a positive result until very recently, when he had a small amount of marijuana in his system, according to a source. However, had he not been escalated to Stage 3 for his missed tests when out of the NFL -- if he was in Stage 2, for instance -- two years of clean tests would have be enough to get him out of the program entirely.

Basically he's going to win his appeal and won't miss a single game. They are taking too long to think otherwise.

All I know is it would be great to have Browner back for the payoffs. Would have nice to have him back tomorrow night to mug / cover Graham.

If Browner wins at what point does the attention get focused on the NFL's drug testing policy? Seems like there has been much more attention focused on Seattle players the last couple of years. Just the facts man. When was the last time two players won appeals?
