Marvin,

I don't think most are saying he is for sure guilty. I specifically didn't like your point that the 49ers must PERCIEVE that he is innocent or he wouldn't be playing and offered up an example of percieved guilt or percieved innocent not mattering to them.

That's my opinion and not in any way to be interpreted as fact. That's what makes sense to me.

I'm only speaking in terms of what I THINK, not what I KNOW.

And I gave you a reason why you shouldn't think that.

What? Aldon Smith?

I don't buy that one. Different situation. Still tho, this is just matter of opinion.

Understand here tho that if it comes out that Ray did this I'll be right there with you on the fry him bandwagon.

He played Charles Haley who had...shall we say "issues".

Understatement of the week. Am I remembering the following story correctly:

In just a towel Haley walked up to Montana one day, who was sitting at his locker. Haley sat down at the locker next to him, and opened his towel to show Montana that he was jerking off. He continued to jerk off while staring at Montana and quietly over and over again whispering "Jennifer...Jennifer...Jennifer"

For Hawks fans: "Jennifer" == Jennifer Montana, Joe's wife.

WOW.

Over the top, don't you think?

If his fiance lines up at Right Tackle for the Bears, then I'll give some credence to your ludicrous comparison.

No I don't think it's over the top. If Jim Harbraugh means what he says then he has zero tolerance for those that hit women. Period. His own words make the comparison. What this is showing me is that the 49ners (and Jim Harbraugh) are being hypocritical. If Jim really meant what he said, he could sit McDonald down with pay on his own.

Edit: It also doesn't just apply to teachers. Go work for any business where public image is important (like most ad agencies) [and I assure you that public image is...or at least should be...important in the NFL], and the same applies. Even if it's just an arrest, your key card won't work the next day....until things are resolved...and that may or may not be with pay.

The underlined is whatever, but it has absolutely nothing at all to do with the comparison being over the top or not. .

It has everything to do with it. Besides read my edit. What I said doesn't just apply to teachers or police officers or the like. It also applies to almost anyone where public image is important. As for the underlined part, you really don't get it. By having him play, your head coach at least gives the appearance of hypocrisy.

LOL at using this news to wish for a future in which ADP is somehow about the 9ers and how awful and immoral they are.

We all know exactly what will happen:

Photographic evidence + a superstar player >>>>>>>>>> unreleased evidence + a decent starter.

RayMac, for better or worse, just got bumped from the national news. Save for 9ers and Hawks boards RayMac just pushed Greg Hardy off the bottom of the page by taking his spot as an afterthought. As it turns out RayMac was just holding Ray Rice's seat warm for ADP for 10 days or so.

To be clear, I'm of course being a little glib, but I'm not celebrating this fact AT ALL. It's very unfortunate no doubt, but I'd put money on this characterization being sadly accurate unless the SJPD comes out with a bombshell.

The conversation was about if it's useful to compare Ray McDonald to a child molesting teacher or not. Your feelings about Harbaugh's hypocrisy don't have anything to do with that, or at least, I sincerely really don't see the connection.

Seems like you are celebrating (or at least gloating) to me.

If you don't see why Harbaugh's apparent hypocrisy matters, then I can't help you. As for the comparison, you are (IMHO willfully) missing the point: the POINT was that in any other profession that deals with the public, just an arrest is enough to get you at least suspended.

Which is why I clafiried that despite being glib in the way I wrote it, I'm actually shaking my head at the sad reality of it. It's completely immaterial to me if Ray McDonald is the hot topic or not. I'm honestly concerned with more earthly stuff like 1) hoping it's not true because you never want violence to occur and 2) hoping it's not true because if it is true my favorite team has been acting like it's not true, and thus acting like MASSIVE @ssholes.

And how about you taking ADP's kid being beaten and using it to hope that it ultimately makes the 9ers look bad? I don't know if that qualifies as celebrating, but IMO it might qualify as buying party supplies in the hopes you might get to have one.

And just as back story as I know it's hard to keep what people say straight: since the moment the Ray McDonald news has come out I've said as a fan I've wanted them to cut him or in the very least bench him with pay. I've questioned that stance a bit more over time, but it's still my default position. Just saying this because although I'm a jerk no doubt, I'm not the villainous "every 9ers fan" that gets concocted by some on Hawks boards. ;)

I never said it didn't matter. I said it was completely unrelated to the conversation at hand: comparing Ray McDonald to a child molesting teacher.

Per KIRO, Adrian Peterson was just deactivated by the Vikings. At least one NFL franchise is willing to do the right thing. Enough said.

I disagree. I think it very much matters since it reflects on the character of the coaching staff and franchise.

THE POINT

YOUR HEAD

With the shitstorm that is the ray rice situation it AMAZES me that Carolina and SF just go about their business even though both of their players have issues related to DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Vikings didnt wait for "the justice system to handle it" they stepped up and did what an organization should do and deactivated him for this week.

All I'm sayin' is lets see some facts before we convict in the court of public opinion.

What is this "let's" stuff Marvin? It's public opinion. Nothing more. Your efforts to change opinions are not worth it. Every guy here has their own view on the matter and they will continue to.

This isn't some mystery, something happened and no one has to wait for a conviction because conviction, charged or not McDonald could have easily abused his girl. Not being convicted or charged simply means a court of law didn't have enough information to punish him in the legal system.

Sure, people can wait for information, but they certainly don't have to, especially when it is likely that RM doesn't even get charged.

Yup...was only a matter of time before the false equivalence comments popped up.

Ray Rice was investigated and the facts are known. Adrian Peterson isn't even denying it and most importantly we have photographic evidence and details of the incident. Even Greg Hardy was CONVICTED (tho he's on a appeal).

We have NONE of that for Ray McDonald.

As I've said all along...if he did this I want him gone.

Here's my question...if he's guilty or if the evidence looks really damning, I've already told you what I think they should do. Gone. That day. I'm not talking about waiting for the justice system to complete its process...I'm talking about having ANY information (which I suspect the 49ers already do).

Lets go the other way...what are peeps here going to say if it turns out the 49ers were RIGHT? What if he DIDN'T do it? What if this whole thing drug his name through the mud and he's innocent. Who stood on the "right" side then?

Do you think ,the Vikings would have suspended Adrian Peterson if this was just an accusation and there were no facts, no investigation, and no pictures? This has been going on for weeks and my guess is that the Vikings knew about it long before last week...when he played.

Please.

So where did these mysterious bruises on her neck and arm come from..they just randomly appeared on her? And if thats not enough he also had police called to the house in may and sources have said they had a volatile relationship.

At the VERY LEAST the 49ers could of deactivated him this week considering the amazing ammount of backlash the nfl is getting but they are "waiting for due process process" to play out even though they "will not tolerate a domestic abuser on the team"

IMO it just shows poor judgement on the 49ers organization considering everything that happened this week in regards to the ray rice situation. Same with the Panthers organization and I think that is an even worse situation.

I don't know.

THAT'S THE POINT.

EDIT: editing to address the part you added....

I wouldn't have had a problem with them sitting him. I don't know what they know though.

Jed York said that he was far more comfortable letting people in the media and the fans attack his character than to do punish someone for doing something he didn't know he did. Jed is a smart guy. He knows how this is playing out in the public and he knows what people will say about him and his organization.

He knows all that and yet he continues to let Ray play and practice. THAT'S why I think the Niners know something.

Neither do we, but there was a 911 call and he was arrested. More than enough for most 'ordinary' jobs to get suspension (sometimes with pay and sometimes without). The Vikes were willing to do the right thing. The Niners should as well.
