Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

#Jets requested to interview #Seahawks Director of Pro Personnel Trent Kirchner, source says. He’s GM John Schneider’s right-hand man

Maybe he went to bat for Percy and it will mean we will get an early 4th.

Remember the last time they tried a Seahawks guy as GM? That didn't work out so well last time so well I don't think.

Could these guys be more in love with John Schneider?

Speaking from personal experience, yes...yes, they could.

Never understood why they thought a salary cap specialist would excel at GM.

Why anyone from the Seahawks front office would even entertain the idea of becoming the Jets GM after what happened to John Idzik is beyond me. They have a thread bare roster and whoever comes in will have two years at best to make them competitive before they're out too.

Agreed.

Hope that our guys just say that they're not interested in the Jets jobs.

Well they're interviewing with them, which indicates that there's some level of interest. I doubt they've already queued up a "thanks, but no thanks" if the team offers them the job.

They were 20 million over the cap at the time. They needed a cap specialist in the role.

I went over to a Jets forum last night, just to see how they felt about raiding Seattle's cupboard again. Several didn't want to even entertain the thought, though the majority seemed to hope hiring Kirchner would give them the inside track to Dan Quinn.

The Jets GM job is actually a pretty good position now. They have plenty of cap room, pick #6 overall, a few decent RFAs that could lead to additional picks, and a bunch of winnable games on the schedule next year. Idzik never had his choice of coach and the new GM probably will (negotiable). Kirchner and Quinn would be a pretty good combo and they could sign guys like Maxwell and Williams in FA to shore up their defense.

Cable's a head scratcher for the Jet's job, he's pretty much the same style of coach as Ryan.

They basically are interviewing these guys now because it really is the only chance for it to happen. That's why you are seeing Quinn's name being floated about on just about every job because we will be too deep into the playoffs after this week for them to actually get interviewed within the timeline that most teams make their decisions for whoever they want at HC/GM in the majority of cases.

W00t W00t, please hire Cable...we'll finally get a coach that believes in pass blocking then.

Yeah... and will probably ditch the successful run-blocking formulae that has helped us to 40 wins over the last 3 years

Not to mention the "plug and play" capability that allowed us to overcome all those injuries

This is great...I think it's nice to have what others want. Kudos to Pete and John for seeing the value of these guys in the first place. Great job from Dan, Trent, and Tom for being on want list for teams. Pete wants his guys to have success and he will do what is best for them. That's why Gus Bradley is a head coach in Jax. When Gus left, the Seahawks didn't lose a step. This is just what a first-class organization has to go through. Having teams wanting to interview our guys is a very good thing. John and PC have shown should their guys be offered an opportunity, they will do what they can to allow for it and they will find adequate replacements for them should they leave.
