Funny, I've been listening to this interview, off and on, the last couple hours while I work. Good stuff.

My wife is a Cowboys fan so I've been learning more and more about Jerry Jones the last several years. Went to the game in Dallas in 2023 (the one where the refs jobbed us) and I was beyond impressed with AT&T and everything about the game day experience. Love him or hate him, Jerry Jones is a brilliant business man and he knows how to market. He's also done so much good for the NFL as a whole and made the fan experience for everyone in the league better. I highly recommend the interview he did with Joe Buck, it's on the tube. That really opened my eyes to who he is and what he's accomplished.

I disagree that he's great for the real fans, as he's led to stadiums
being built for massive profit(s) at taxpayers' expense and ticket
prices rising beyond the average fans means..
To me he's ushered in greed and more greed even though the NFL
and players make plenty of $$$$ through TV contracts and merch
it's never enough and the fans pay more and more every year.

Interesting, I can't necessarily disagree. Although, one could argue that all of what you described are the results of extreme success in any professional sports league like the NFL has enjoyed.

In the interview he did with Joe Buck he goes into detail about the ideas and innovations he implemented in Dallas, that's more what I was referencing. Not to mention the absolute balls it took to buy the team and build that stadium.

I went to a college football game at Jerry world Stadium - four double gin and tonics were $138 before tip.

Amazing facility, great place to watch a game, but the pricing is simply out of control.

And yes, we did need 4 double gin and tonics because........Texas.

Yeah, I about had to donate a kidney to pay the tab that weekend. Which is why I rarely go to any NFL games anymore, that one was the first in 8 years for me. Much rather take the game in sitting on my couch, drinking my beer and using my restroom with no line, lol.

Timing and a hint of luck are everything. Jerry did have the balls to start his own business, but the fact that he founded his oil and gas company at the beginning of the Arab oil embargo was quite fortuitous (or maybe speaks to his entrepreneurial acumen). He also “hit” on his first 13 wells which is almost unheard of.

I’m just glad he’s better at choosing drilling locations than he is football players.

As far as the 90’s go. We will never know who was truly responsible for the trade that brought a dynasty. Two stubborn MF’s right there with ego’s the size of the Grand Canyon. That said, I do believe the Cowboys have more than three had Jimmy stayed. Firing Jimmy was their “don’t give it to Marshawn moment”.

After watching the documentary - it seems like Jerry will keep doing what he is doing until he wins a Superbowl with something other than Jimmy Johnson's players. Or dies.

You all should watch the Cowboys documentary on Netflix. It didn't make me a fan of Jerry jones, but I did learn a thing or two about what happened. It is interesting, even for a Seahawk fan.
