I’d trade for Kevin Zeitler from the Titans. He’s on 1 year deal and it would be a short term rental but he’s definitely an upgrade and shouldn’t cost more than Bradford and a 6th for Zeitler and a 7th and then get a guard and a corner at the top of the draft this offseason.

I like the line the way it is. I think Sundell would be better staying at center than guard. Bradford has had his moments, I get it but this was the first game he's even had penalties if I remember correctly. He's had a few headscratchers, who hasn't? He's also been injured since week 3. We're not going to trade for anyone better, they just are not available because all trams are looking for that position. The 5 teams that aren't looking for it aren't giving up anything that isn't at the tail end of their career. I'm in the minority but keep it the way it is. Upgrades at guards are just not available unless they are set to retire next offseason or close to it.

We have the means to get a guy. We don't for some reason. I would also say maybe Olu could play guard. Bradford is so clumsy and stupid he is taking our own guys out. Maybe Bradforn has potential.....some good plays. IDK.

Unrealized potential isn't worth anything. Kubiak is under a mandate of run the damn rock. I don't know how one does it with broken toys.

The trade deadline is coming. We will see how serious the Hawks are. Besides the talking heads top choices of near retirement and injury concern players there has to be some talent out there.
what are the means? what team wants to trade a quality NFL guard and what would the Hawks have to give up?

We're all entitled to our opinions on this site, and I respect other's opinions. But I respectfully disagree with the two points I highlighted. It's hard for me to like the line the way it is when we are near the worst team in the league in yards per carry. We're lucky to have a well balanced team comparatively speaking with the rest of the league. But this is at present a glaring weakness for a team that wants to run the ball effectively. Why not try to improve?

Second, Bradford ranks near the very bottom of all Guards in the league. I don't see it as being all that difficult to upgrade the position from near dead last in the league through trade. There are very few players in the entire league who are "untouchable". It's just a matter of targeting the Guards who'd both provide a significant upgrade, and who fit the profile of veteran players who are at or nearing the end of their contract and who are playing on non-contending teams. There are players who fit such a profile (two on Cleveland alone, for example). From there, it's just a matter of working out a deal. Most everyone in the league has price by which a team would be willing to move on from them.

That's fine. I completely undertsand. When all teams in the league are looking for Offensive linemen, teams won't give up the good ones they have. Sure there are two on the Browns but that's about it. Bitonio is still a solid guard but he is at the tail end of his career. He's 34. He could retire next year, he could retire 5 years from now. Wyatt Teller, I'd have to ask Chenna his thoughts on that one. There's 31 other teams looking to improve, especially at interior OL. It's not as simple as people make it out to be. Oh just trade this and that will get it done. How do you know? No one has any idea what kind of conversations are being had and for who and for what?

To me, it doesn't matter if such a player is nearing the end of their career. That's actually the kind of player I have in mind. I'm just looking for a player for this year, and possibly something like a year extension if we bring them in. That's it. But that's a lot for us. A veteran presence to add to a young offensive line to make a real playoff push this year. Then we can look to the future in the draft. But I'm thinking now. This season. Making a run for it when the NFC looks more wide open than I thought it would be at the start of the season, and our Hawks playing better than I expected. That's all.

I can appreciate that take. i just come back to guards are hard to come by. The entire league is always talking about no one is giving them up. so what's the cost? We can speculate all we want but we have no idea. I would love an upgrade but it's not that simple. I'd like Bitonio for sure but what does Cleveland want him for him and how much competition is out there for him?

If we don't upgrade at RG (ie get someone who is average and not Bradford), Bradford is going to cost us critical games down the road.

Not signing Damien Lewis in 2024 was a disappointment. I understand that $13.2 million per year is a lot of money, and puts Lewis in the top-10 for highest paid guards. Unfortunately, that's the going rate.

I haven't been watching Lewis, so I can't be certain, but from what others have said, he seems to be playing better in Carolina than he did in Seattle. It's easy to say in hindsight that Seattle should've extended him, but his play here didn't warrant an extension in the eyes of most of us fans.

Yes, and I think that most of us were shocked that he got such a big contract after what looked like a below average performance by Lewis in 2023. But Carolina scouted him, and they must have determined that they could get more out of him than Shane Waldron could.

Lewis grades significantly higher now than he did when he played for the Seahawks. Maybe he improved, but it's also possible that it's a result of coaching and scheme.

At the very least, I think we can agree that he would be an improvement over Bradford.
