HAHAHAH. He made it through a game, so I'll pat him on the back. That's about it.

Look at the defense and say thank you. That's where the win came from.

I said Carp was terrible last week then reviewed the game tape and discovered that he was worse than I thought. He was worlds better this week but he still seems to avoid contact. Whether he is trying to protect himself from injury or he just lacks killer instinct I don't know. But OL should not avoid contact until the whistle blows...

Carp had a pretty damn good game but don't expect many seahawk fans to admit that. Seems like once some of us have made our mind up on things, that's it.

He's still getting into game shape, so I'll cut him some slack.....but MVP, c'mon man, be serious.

I was very impressed with 'Big Game' James performance tonight, especially in light of Okung not being able to play much. It could have gotten ugly very quickly, but he came through, so give him some cheers.
It also certainly goes to show the coaching staff has confidence in him, in that he was their go to guy tonight.

As far as MVP, correct me if I'm wrong, I have to rewatch the tape, but I thought he manhandled Justin Smith on that first Lynch TD, driving him back 7-10 yards with Marshawn right behind him. That 15 yard draw for a touchdown was a key moment in the game. My MVP is Marshawn, but you know what...

Great game James!!! :th2thumbs:

It's about time Carpenter started earning his keep. He hasn't been able to stay on the field, and if he's right, it does correct one of our biggest weaknesses, which is our interior line.

Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett are the ones that REALLY stood out tonight, with a nod towards Walter Thurmond and Cliff Avril.

He did have a terrific game tonight, lets just hope he can continue to improve and stay healthy each week. With how McQuistan has looked and played so far this season, we need him to step up and perform well.

Carp held his own against Justin Smith and also filled in admirably for Okung in a very tough situation. Hardly a game-ball worthy performance, but dude took a huge step today. Happy for him.

I'll give him props for this game for sure. He is uniquely qualified to take on The Cowboy because he is so powerful and doesn't need to be super quick against the 'master holder'....and once Carp gets his hands on you, fuggedaboutit!! Hopefully the coaches see enough good things on the film to give him more playing time. In this particular matchup, he faired much better than McQuistan did. Short term, Okung leaving the game and causing that shuffle may have been fortunate in that it helped the run game. Long term, if Okung's toe heals quickly enough, maybe the coaches will be less hesitant to put Carpenter in the mix.

Was it true that after last years 42-13 game, Justin Smith said that they would have won if he was in the game?

If so, i'm glad Sunday night happened.

Maybe this wasn't such a crazy notion after all....

The Football Outsiders stars for Week 2 are:

WR Steve Johnson, BUF: 8 catches on 10 passes, 111 yards, game-winning touchdown, led all WR in DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards above Replacement).
LG James Carpenter, SEA: Came off the bench to abuse the San Francisco defensive line as the Seahawks ran for 172 yards.
DT Dontari Poe, KC: Two sacks and overall domination of Cowboys rookie Travis Frederick.
DT Kawann Short, CAR: Three quarterback hits, two assists, and a tackle.
CB Richard Sherman, SEA: Only allowed one completion in man coverage according to game charting, which was a "failed completion" that didn't convert third-and-long; also had an interception. (He did allow a second completion, but that was in a zone.)

I agree. I only saw a few highlights, and he was in on most of the run blocking ones. On Lynch's 14 yard TD run, he cleared out Justin Smith rather easily. You seriously don't see that, ever.

Personally, I think we're seeing rust. I bet we'll see an improvement after this week when he gets all the 1st team and game reps. He's also been pretty snake bitten, so I can't blame the guy for being worried about his knees, but he's going to have to get over that soon and get some confidence, or I'm guessing we go OG in the draft if it falls to us in round 1. I personally can't think of a weaker spot on the entire team.

Carpenter had a nice hold of Justin Smith on Lynch's TD run. I was shocked he wasn't called for holding.
