Ahh so he's developing as he should and recognizing things he needs to work on. I like the kid
That was a nice TD drive he led in the 4th qtr. Russel-Wilson-esque, with a nice Read-Option run. Add a Tush-Push short yardage conversion, and then a well-thrown TD pass to Cody White. Even though the game overall was hard to watch, I think the experience will be super-valuable to his development.

1000% i think the kid did the best he could with what he had out there, and post game he did good recognizing what else he needs to work on.

Milroe had remarkable fumble problems at college. This is the number one thing I worry about him, as he has small hands. Is it fixable or is it something that just comes with not having huge palms?

Kenny Picket small?
Picket has 8+1/2, so not that small. Milroe’s wilipedia says ”In February 2025, Milroe's hand span reportedly grew from 8+3⁄4 in (220 mm) to 9+3⁄8 in (240 mm).” Which seems weird… The bigger one was measured at the Combine. Maybe he got some hand massage like Jared Goff…

Interesting fact. Russell had phenomenally large hands for his stature. Yet he was notoriously nowhere near as good statistically in the rain. So it didn’t seem to matter his hand size in the elements.

I guess my point is, hand size doesn’t always matter. Sound philosophy and execution does. Notice how he wrapped up that football like it was an infant in the 3rd quarter?

It’s not hand size. It’s paying attention to sound principles such as protecting the football like your life depends on it.

Something tells me after today he’s going to focus a little harder on that part of his game.

No doubt. A great welcome the NFL moment. A full game of reps is huge. And you gotta love him talking about what be needs to he better at. Big learning experience. I expect him to be a hell of a player. And working with the 2s and 3s certainly doesn't help. Dave Wyman also talked about how these plays we are seeing with him are much different that what we will see in the regular season. I have little to no doubt they have some serious plans for him. Especially with his legs.

It wasn't a pretty game to watch and was obviously marred by his fumbles in the first half. But if you go back and watch every one of his plays, he definitely flashed. He was close to but hasn't thrown a pick all preseason. And those QB sneaks look unstoppable (unless you fumble). It's a game of inches, but how different would the perception have been if he hadn't of fumbled in those opening drives and then connected with Cody White at 4:19 in this video.

Anyway, I think he's had a successful preseason. Now he gets to sit back (maybe run some sneaks and read option), continue to work on his mechanics with his trainer, practice with the team, and watch Sam Darnold and film for an entire calendar year.

Milroe was out there with a few players that aren’t going make the cut…playing against starters for a few series.

Yah…not worried. His arm and accuracy looked good…the part of his game that folks tend to be negative on.

First start…

Yah…I’m still on this is QB1 by ‘27. There’s been some decent discussion in these forums about Milroe but for anyone saying he’s another AR, bust…needs to go to receiver…will just be a ‘package’ guy….ya’ll can get deeeeeeeeez nutzzzzzzzzz.

He’s got time to develop.

Milroe is not another Anthony Richardson (be sure to specify that @GemCity 'cause AR also could stand for Aaron Rodgers).

Jalen seems to be made of sterner stuff both physically and mentally unlike Richardson.
My bad. I usually refer to Aaron Rodgers as ‘Ayahuasca Aaron’ aka ‘CGOMOD’ (can’t get off my own D), etc etc.

Definitely meant Anthony Richardson (who I actually still believe can be solid in this league).

Milroe couldn’t be in a better spot. He definitely has things to work on. Hes not going to be thrown into the fire as a starter in his rookie season. He doesn’t even have to worry about being the backup. He gets to work on his game and what he needs to improve on. He is clearly in a developmental situation where his skill set can be nurtured so that when he is needed or exhibits readiness, success will have a better chance.

If he was drafted to start this year, he would probably have some success but also a lot of growing pains. In that case, as a rookie starter the magnifying glass would be all over everything he does. Good and bad. Anything less than a Russell Wilson type of rookie year and he would begin to be labeled a bust. We have all seen the connections and similarities to 2012 along with the 3rd round selection. Human nature just wants a repeat. Milroe isn’t Wilson. He’s got intangibles that me3 doesn’t have.

Milroe is in a perfect situation. We will probably get to see a few plays here and there while he gets some valuable real game experience. If he gets the opportunity to flash some greatness, we will all be entertained by each other in our fan debates over whether he should start now vs next year or the year after.

It’s all good. I’m excited for this QB room. I’m excited for this team. And I’m excited that we actually have a viable QB to develop that doesn’t need to play right away.
