Is it me or why didn’t they just franchise Walker?

seabowl is the OP and has posted in this thread 13 times.
He is like the kid who won't quit asking why is the sky blue? Why is grass green??
He has been given every possible viable answer including chlorophyll, Rayleigh Scattering along with all of the scientific details & data ad nauseam.
Nothing seems acceptable to him.
That's the way God made it and that's just what color they are fall on deaf ears.

At this point I think seabowl should have to mow all the neighborhood lawns that fly Seahawk flags for free until his tennis shoes are permanently stained green. He should then have to wear those grass stained green shoes while watching Jadarian Price outshine K9 for the entire season.
Walker cost too much green.

Look, my point was that it’s all about risk reward. The risk the Seahawks take with this open window is that Price turns out to be the next Christine Michael, Rashaad Penny, CJ Procise etc.. The reward is he performs close to or equal to K9’s abilities at a fraction of the cost. It’s a calculated risk and I think my biggest point in the matter was with the window open right now, do you want to take that kind of risk on such a pivotal position? I’ll say it again, without K9 last year, the Seahawks do not win the Super Bowl.

Fair point but……

There would still be a risk with K9, staying healthy the main one in my opinion.

Having said that, it boils down to risk vs reward no matter how you slice it.

I believe 💯 that they made the right choice in letting him go and drafting a potential replacement.

Keep in mind, if K9 suffered an injury this coming season his value would have crumbled.

They did K9 a solid AND made the best business decision for the Hawks (IMHO).

I give the Hawk’s brass credit for not getting sucked into the nostalgia and giving him big bucks. K9 had him moments, but it was time to move on.

I disagree. I'm not taking anything away from K9 as he really picked up the slack after Carbs went down and was a huge factor in our success. But one thing that you have to keep in mind about last season is that Charbs played in 16 games and carried roughly 1/3 of the RB workload before getting injured. Would K9 have held up had he been forced to carry more often?

Our team was dominant for the last month of the regular season and through the playoffs, so dominant that IMO with the exception of Sam Darnold, we could have won the Lombardi had we been missing any one player from the squad that finished the season.

Here's some data that supports why John chose not to pay Walker top-RB money for the next three years:

In his rookie year (2022), K9 was the 12th highest RB in rushing yards having played in 15 games.

In 2023, he was #19 in 15 games.

In 2024, he was #35 in 12 games.

Last year, he was #16 in all 17 games.
