It's from a different conversation. Irsay is guilty of saying something stupid.

I'm looking at the exact quotes, and I honestly don't see what's so inflammatory about them. He starts if off saying "we've changed our model a little bit..." OK, to me it's obvious that he's talking about building a team around defense and special teams that isn't entirely reliant on a spectacular passing game. This seems especially obvious after watching that video filmed a week ago where he explains exactly that. If anything, this is a shot at Bill Polian more than anything else.

Ultimately it's the owner's responsibility as to how a team is run and what their success rate is. The owner makes decisions about who his GM is, and if he thinks he is smart enough to tweet about how to run a football team, then he is the one responsible for the end product.

For years there were pundits who said that the team around Peyton wasn't that good, but for every one of those people, there were a hundred that said Bill Polian was a genius and Jeff Saturday was a pro bowl center. Saturday got exposed when he went to Green Bay.

But yeah, just like Jerrah Jones, Jim Irsay is the one who has to take the brunt of the criticism for only one ring.

I don't think his statements were inflammatory at all either. Pretty funny that so many different interpretations can be taken from what Irsay said.

For instance, I was listening to ESPN 710 and one of the guys when he first read it thought that Irsay was actually defending Peyton by saying that they didn't do what they had to do to field a winning team around him.
