They say defense starts up front. The Giants have Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Abdul Carter up front amongst others. We don't presently have comparable talent up front yet. The Eagles, Broncos, Ravens, and a few other defensive units will likely be right up there with us in overall D.

I'll drink some hopium infused koolaid but A LOT needs to happen for them to be ranked #1.

1. Hall and Mafe need to make the leap this season and apply consistent pressures and sacks. This pass rush is still unproven.

2. The secondary should be great on paper, but in reality, they need to be more disruptive, with more PDs, picks and turnovers.

3. LB depth remains iffy. They need to stay healthy.

4. Rookies and second year players need to step up. I haven't seen much from Emmanwori or Murphy TBH.

5. MM worked wonders toward the second half when he got his players. However, he is still going into the second year, and there is one weakness in the defense that I will not mention here at this time. Maybe its solved now but remains to be seen.

Top 10 defense? Sure. #1 overall? Not quite yet.

Yeah, because I need to see it first before I think #1 is a given, that somehow means I have no faith.

Hilarious. Esp. because I've been called homer, rose colored glasses hundreds of times on here. hahahahaha

I think D is top 5 - but I agree with Soul - gonna just have to see it. Would love to see it not 'not matter' but have the Offence click this year and just keep the D off the field!!!!

Depth is an issue. Bye week's a little early too..... but who knows depending on our injury status it could be at exactly the week 8 time we need. Hope that's not the case :)
