KW2's attitude has ALWAYS been well documented, so no surprise to me that we let him go.

It's too bad too, guy could be a monster TE if not for health and ego.

Reply: Sending a public tweet back to the person who tweeted

Retweet: Sending that person's tweet onto your twitter feed. Basically like quoting someone on here.

Private Message: That person is only one who will see it. BUT you can't privately message someone that isn't following you. So even though Winslow sent me a private message, I can't send him one back.

I don't think he didn't accept the lower offer, but he WAS cut. But I do imagine it was a result of an attitude problem.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--matt- ... -job-.html

Later in the spring, during OTAs, Wilson threw a touchdown on a corner route to veteran tight end Kellen Winslow, who'd recently been acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As Winslow jogged back toward his offensive teammates, Wilson, according to a witness, told him, "If you run that route the same way every time, I'll put it right there for you." When Winslow appeared disinterested, Wilson repeated the statement, this time loudly enough to get everyone's attention. Said the witness: "He definitely didn't seem like a rookie."

I imagine "disinterested" was a common theme through his time here, and that's because he thought he was bigger than his boots

Here is why I love that information. There were other threads out here about how RW took Rice and one other receiver and practiced red-zone offense. This was before RW was named starting qb and apparently early summer camp or similiar. They were on board, they worked together with this rookie NON-starting qb. Not sure if they saw something or just agreed it was the right thing to do but remember Rice is the high priced veteran.

On the other hand Winslow couldn't even acknowledge the praise most likely based on where it came from - why should he care.....

To me - interesting

#2s dont catch 70, unless youre on the patriots. And didnt he request to be cut from them? Filling in for their injuries was as much play time as he was gonna get, even as a #1 somewhere else, could have showed the rest of the league he was still worth it, too.

I wish that was the mindset Winslow had coming in here. Play for less money, but catch 50 balls and show the league he still had 2-3 more years in him as a dependable #1 or #2 in the right situation.

Unfortunately he chose option B: Be unwilling to lower salary and accept less playing time and compete for #2 TE position. My question is why did it go all the way til the regular season started? Carroll's usually up front with everyone coming in..........nothing's guaranteed and you're going to have to compete for your job.

I guess Winslow didn't take him seriously?

I wonder if he is smart enough to regret requesting to be cut by the Patriots. NFC Championship game and one of the two starting TE's is out and have been out for large parts of the season. That would have been Winslow in there and number 1 or 2 TE in that offense really doesn't matter

If he wasn't called on Monday then I just don't see it.

Remember you are dealing with one big head-coaching ego there. The guy many speculated didn't give Welker an opportunity at the beginning of the season simply because Welker is a FA after this year........

He could, but I don't think any coach (especially not Belicheat) trusting a player in the playoffs that hasn't played all year.

In my opinion Anthony McCoy was the most underrated player on this board this year. Dude was flat out beasting in run blocking and for the most part was a consistent pass catcher.

Had he remained Winslow would have been 3rd tight end, if he could have even played.

It's a shame because, when the Seahawks were out of contention, my favorite "other" team was the Chargers during the Air Coryell years. Watching Air Coryell was amazing. Fouts, Winslow, Branch, and Chandler were amazing to see. You young kids need to watch some on ESPN classic if you haven't. The first team with two receivers AND the tight end go over 1000 yards. They were a rival but they had no defense (why they never won it all), but with a team exciting as they were to watch it was impossible for me to hate them like I did the Raiders, Broncos and Chiefs.

A shame that the son couldn't play like his father, and then is too flippin' arrogant to admit it. Oh well, it's his career.

+Joiner, Muncie, Brooks. Absolutely man, I loved watching the Air Coryell offense in action! They were my favorite team (probably for the helmet/uniforms) when I was just old enough to start paying attention to football in the early 80s -- up until the point being intrigued about some team :D that beat the Chargers on Monday night 44–23 (1981) and later learning or maybe rather becoming aware and giving it meaning that I was born in Seattle. Definitive, unequivocal favorite team has been the Seahawks ever since!!

Recently, I watched The Missing Rings: 1981 San Diego Chargers which brought back memories. The defense was frustrating, but that was such an amazing team to watch and follow back then.

And it was great too because my dad was a Dolphin fan, born and raised in Miami, so you can imagine what watching the "Epic in Miami" was like! Not sure what it will take for me personally to no longer consider Kellen Winslow sr the best TE ever.

What did he say first that caught your attention?

Here is what I think. He's confident just like any other player out there believing he can contribute more than the other guy. If you ask Doug Baldwin if he thinks he should be a #1 reciever or a slot guy - what do you think he will say? He caught the most balls for us his rookie year. Now people are going to get mad, why am I comparing Doug to Kellen. I am not. Even though I think Kellen is misunderstood on personal level. When Lofa was asked to take a paycut he refused too. Again - not comparing the two. Just putting things into perspective.

Well here's what i think. Kellen needs to gain some perspective. He's purely a pass catcher at this point. He cant particlpate fully in practices with his bum knee. His reps in games were limited for the same reason. This also excludes him as a blocker.

If he can only be used in such limited capacity, how does he expect to get starter money? With that type of attitude, I hope he's managed his money well, because nobody will be knocking down doors to sign him at the price he expects.

whatever. Kellen Winslow has no knees.

who cares what his ball skills are, if he can't play.

He did the same thing I said that him and miller would have been a awesome 1,2 punch at TE and sent me a privet message saying "thanks blame Carroll"

He seems to think he's the greatest receiver ever to be on the Seahawks even tho it was just for a couple of weeks.

Never heard of Steve Largent or Joe Jurivicous..

This is not the same thing. This is saying he would have been fine being on the team with miller and one would be number 1 and the other would be number two. His mindset should always be that he wants to be number 1 but is ok being part of the two......

McCoy is a great blocker unlike Winslow. So in terms of what we are doing Winslow probably would have still got less snaps since he can't block very well. We need a pass catching TE but Winslow was hardly dynamic.

For some reason I'm very annoyed with this.
