If Hawks are going heavy run, I'd trade DK

Man a bunch of whiners on here lately. Waah wahh we want to run more. Let's trade Russ and DK. WTF guys. Buck up. If I wanted to watch a bunch of babies i'd go hang out with my kids. lol

It reminds me of my one buddy in fantasy football. If he loses 2 games in a row the next morning you get the "on the trade block" update with his entire team listed as available.

DK is literally the last player on the team I would trade followed by our punter and kicker. Lockett too.

So let DK be a decoy on a cheap contract for the next two years, then watch him bounce for 3rd rd comp pick. Or trade him for two firsts and run with scrub WRs like we have last 9 years with Pete.

Gotta agree.

Even if this were the run heaviest team in the league, wide receiver talent and an efficient passing game is still imperative to success.

I would trade Lockett, instead of DK, at least he can block well.

If the Colts want to give me Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, Jonathan Taylor, and their next 2 first round picks, sure!
I could count on one hand the players I would even consider trading DK for, but including Nelson would sure get my attention. That guy is to interior OL what Aaron Donald is to interior DL, but considerably younger. Zero doubt in my mind that he becomes an all-time great.

I’m pretty sure Russ and Lockett share a brain, so I wouldn’t be trading him either.

There are about a million things I would change about this team, but there’s no way I’m breaking up this starting WR duo.

Not a chance in hell do I trade DK. As mentioned already, DK fits perfectly with Carroll.

Removing DK allows a safety to live inside the box, which limits the ability to run the ball. The threat of DK, especially as he gets better is significant, and an asset to the team.
This

Also, you need a legitimate deep threat to open up the underneath routes.

I do agree with another poster who said even though DK had a great year, he's being underutilized. Whoever the new OC is, he needs to find more creative ways to get DK more involved other than slants and deep routes.

A deep threat makes a DC think twice about stacking the box.

That'll sit well with DK.

New nickname: DKoy

Why? It doesn't mean he gets used less. It means you showcase his ability and then counter with the run when they adjust.

Trade dk and people will just come up with excuses whenever Russel struggles saying he doesn't have a number 1 receiver ro throw to.

Good thing the front office doesn't make decisions based on how a faction of fans will react

If you want to figure out how to stop your run game by allowing teams to stack the box then yes trade him.

On the other hand, how many big body elite receivers have won championships?

Actually with DK's big body size and strength, I think he can be an excellent run blocker.

DK already is a fantastic and WILLING run blocker. Almost like having an extra TE. No way should we trade him.

Seconded on DK's run blocking ability. He's great. Plus he winds up DBs as he's doing it, which handed us a few welcome 15 yarders this season.

That said, I can totally see DK realising he could be so much more and leaving after his rookie contract.

I might be alone in this, but I already feel like he's here on a rental and will end up elsewhere in a more pass-happy setup. Maybe that's because we've never had a player like him, but other teams have?

This will probably work itself out.

The most recent trend for star players is to get paid after their third season.

So after next year, Seattle will either pay him $18-$20 million per year or they won't. And if they don't, and I'm Metcalf - not sure I'd play. He's one of the most underpaid players in the league.

Can I just say it is an absolute bummer how the Hawks just wastes good talent. I gotta say if I were some star NFL player and I had options available to me...unless I was defensive or a RB. I would not want to play for the Seahawks. I'm sure some of the agents for FAs are now telling prospective free agents that Seattle is not the place to go if you're a skill position and seek to make it into the probowl for future big contracts.
