...that RB is a position of surplus and we can find one in the draft or pick one up off any discard pile.

I believe RB is probably the most important position in the type of offense Macdonald wants to run. We can get by with Darnold, but we need a dynamo at the RB position.

I think a lot of people will be surprised when we finally do address our RB position this offseason. Trade for the right candidate, move up in the draft, something major is going to happen for the RB position.

The RB is 42% of the offence in 2026, it's shocking how undervalued that position is. Every team wants that Marshall Faulk, elite runner/receiver type back, but we just need a true running back like Walker was. Charbs would work if he gets healthy but you never know after a major injury.

Fast is nice, but quick is best. Snag one in the draft.

I hope something good is about to happen.

I completely agree - everyone acts like we can just pull into a gas station and find a pump jockey that's ready to suit up.

PARTICULARLY now that we HOPEFULLY have a meat and potatoes kinda OC in Fleury, I'm going to be really really disappointed if we don't have someone pretty strong in the RB position. After suffering through the "Hey, we need to have a run game? Huh, that's something I did NOT know!?!?" of the last 2 OCs, I really really really want to see us get the run/ground game going. If we can, we've got Shaheed to force 2 high safeties, and I think we could do some pretty special things with RB and TE folk closer in - if the play calling is right.

Dear Santa: "Please send us a good running back. And please let Fleury not suck."

I like UW's Jonah Coleman with our pick at 64. His stats for 3yrs are consistently good, rushing and receiving, good blocker and over his 4yr career he never fumbled, and was out one week for injuries. Low to the ground and 228 lbs.

I hear Kyler Murray is available. Wait, no. He went to the Queens.

Who knows, maybe our RBOTF is already on the team, and that’s why they felt comfortable letting K9 walk.

Maybe someone from round three of last-year’s draft.

The difference between how much RB's get paid and how much QB's get paid is massive. I can't imagine Milroe would be willing to convert to RB unless he's 100% convinced that he has no shot whatsoever to ever make it as a QB in the NFL.

Also, we don't know that they were comfortable letting K9 walk. They very well could have been uncomfortable letting him walk, but even more uncomfortable paying a RB $15 mil per year.

Coleman maintained a 5 yd average running behind a patchwork Husky line ranked 105th nationally. His scouting report screams yards after contact, redzone production & ball security.

Not sure you can accurately compare QB YPC with RB YPC since QB yards are often more serendipitous than intentional.

It's OK to mourn the loss of our 2025 MVP of the superbowl.
I would offer that the diffence between a first round running back and a fiveth round RB is much smaller than say a DE or OT.
Our staff now roots out the talent very well and a guy who isn't getting it done will be replaced in short order. I am not worried I like first contract RBs. Several.available like Coleman and Whittingham. We are not gonna grab one with our first pick.

I assumed the inclusion of Kyler Murray meant that the sarc tag was unnecessary. I assumed wrong.

Wasn't comparing RB's to QB's, not sure how you got that...?
Would like to see Milroe on a couple of jet sweeps though, 😉

I have zero concern about the RB position. We can and will find a worthy RB in the draft who will fit right in to our system. This is not a QB/LT/CB/DE we are talking about. RB’s are of course vital but in my humble opinion, they are a dime a dozen.

This is where you have to rely on your scouting department. Their evaluation must have been that the obvious free agent RBs--Algeier, White, etc.--were not worth it. They must feel that there are RBs available in the second to fourth rounds of the draft. With Charbonnet out and McIntosh just coming back from an ACL injury, I don't really see anyone on the roster who is an obvious RB1.

it's been that way for 2 decades, dude. That's why you rarely see them drafted high.

In the last 30 years (1996–2025), 54 running backs have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Keep lying to yourself.
