How does our defense go from being so bad to so good to so bad with pretty much the same players and coaches?

Agreed .
This team is average if they're lucky. They can't stop the run or pass. I put this on coaching and leadership

I considered that but they had such a good stretch that coaching had to be a part of that as well. It’s really frustrating. These Rams aren’t good. There’s no reason they should be able to walk down the field like this.

They do stop the run and passing on their own team.

Because other teams watch film and analyze the weaknesses, and exploit them. We need more quality defensive depth to be able to make better adjustments.

Coaching may be a part of it but these are NFL players whiffing in tackles. They should be able to make those without coaching excellence.
