Last night the Texans got to play two different downs over. One was a stop by us but a pre snap penalty that nullified our stop but put them back five yards. Why can’t we decline it? Blow it dead then. The other was a clock thing. But the play happened. A guy could blow out his acl on that play. Doesn’t count? Blow the MF dead! If you throw the flag blow the whistle if it’s not going to count!

Yeah I’m with you on the phantom 2nd down play. We saw it with KC in playoffs a couple years back, just smells bad.

A pre snap penalty, such as a false start, is not optional, the yards are marked and the down is played over. Only on penalties occurring after the successful snap, are teams given the option to decline.

The other thing is, well the refs just suck...

This one the refs actually got correct. Nico Collins was injured on the sidelines. He was too close to the field of play, especially considering he was being attended to by multiple members of the medical staff. The refs did blow the play dead but it was hard to hear. It was easy to see in the stadium what happened, but the ref didn't communicate clearly.

I get what you are all saying. I guess I think they should just blow the plays dead if they know it won’t count. Can you imagine how suckful it would be to get a career ending injury when the play isn’t going to count a the ref knew it?!
