JJ sucked in Cleveland, just saying. Hate to crush your lil fantasy.
Not fantasizing at all pe, I was talking about the GOOD things he did for the Seahawks while he was here eh?
Makes no difference to me what happens when a player leaves my Seahawks.

Rice has been invisible.

He just can't get open anymore and is a non factor. This is his last year in a SEAHAWKS uniform.

I'd love to trade him for something when Percy gets back and just roll with Tate/Kearse.

Who the heck would trade for him, and his huge contract?

Well, New England saved some serious cap by letting go of Welker after Brady gave a favorable signing to keep extra money to use on Welker, lol.

Honestly, I just really want to see what Kearse can do.

Why not give Kearse a shot to start in Rice's spot? He's the one that will be playing here next year, not Sidney. Not only is he currently the better player, he also can get valuable NFL experience if he is playing nearly every snap on offense. It's no-lose

The Percy Harvin era has yet to begin. We get to see our first round pick, back at full health... very soon. Guys, go watch Harvin highlights, and remember that we let him heal up fully... 100% before we put him out there. Holy. F-Bomb. Go. Hawks.

I'm not sure who most of you are arguing with regarding Rice. Is anybody advocating that Carroll should give him a spot on this team next season without having to win the job? We just spent our first round draft pick and a ton of cash in order to add a superstar receiver because we felt the group needed it, and Schneider can't say more than one or two sentences about our offense without using the phrase "play maker." You can rest easy if your concern is that Rice will be getting a pass this off-season based on one good season in Minnesota. He will have to earn his spot and will likely be cut.

When it comes to this season, Kearse does have more value than Rice but that should not be confused with which player should start. It is true that Kearse and Baldwin are both UDFA gems who can earn their paychecks with a single catch and are very valuable Hawks as a result. Rice is less valuable due to his contract, but why in the world would you factor salary into who starts on a given Sunday?

Most of the people calling for Rice to be benched seem to be concerned with his performance per dollar. That is a moot point for us right now in the middle of the season unless you really think we would get stronger by cutting the player our coaches think is currently our best receiver.

The dollar part is mostly hoping he'll be a cap casualty next season.

The benching part is because he's a no-show unless were playing the worst teams in the NFL. RW needs WRs to step up. Which ones have? A good benching might give Kearse a chance to break out or not, while at the same time lighting a fire under Rice to perform. 9 catches in 5 games with 5 of them coming against JAX is one reason why RW just ran the second he smelled pressure today. In the long run RW's performance trumps Sidney Rice's feelings.

We should have more production from the type of money put aside for Sidney Rice. He was and has been a non factor any game so far this year. If you were a D coordinator and the Hawks had a 3rd and long who would you be scared of? Ok let's see Tate, Baldwin, R. Wilson and Lynch. Like I said Rice is a non factor.

I'm not a bit concerned with his performance per dollar; I'm concerned with his performance. He's just not good enough to gain any separation in a double team. There are plenty of 1's out there that can do just that...but Rice isn't one of them and it is killing us. Percy will help a ton, of course.

That last play yesterday made me sick. He stood there and waited for that ball for 3 seconds and didn't go make a play on it like he did the week before in the end zone. That's a big deal right now...now that we are no longer in the driver's seat for home field throughout the playoffs. SF is looking better also and now they're one game behind us looking stout as hell. If they win out from here, the best we can do is tie them.

The things that a STUD WR1 should be able to do, Sid isn't able to do. He may very well have the worst stats of all 32 "WR1s" out there. Our offense isn't that great without that stud. Yes he's overpaid...but that's off-season crap. Right now he flat out sucks between the lines, period.

I think it can be hard sometimes to rate our receivers as we are a run first team. You don't really expect any of them to come up with big numbers.

I wonder what realistic options are out there if the 'hawks got rid.

Does anyone actually have the statistics to show what percentage of pass plays Rice has gotten double teamed so far this season? From what I can tell, it does not appear that he gets double teamed every passing play, not even close. Sometimes he does. At this point, it doesn't appear he is able to create meaningful separation from even just single coverage.

There are a lot of issues that fans like myself have:

1. His ridiculous contract
2. His production that is nowhere close to his contract
3. His apparently rapidly diminishing skill set
4. His apparent lack of effort on plays like the final pass against Indy.
5. There appear to be 2 other players in Kearse and Baldwin who are playing much better and could see more snaps if Rice was not a starter

There are so many questions and possibilities with him, and pretty much all of them lead to the conclusion that he is going to be gone next season, and give a very strong argument that he should not be a starter: Why is he making no impact unless he is playing against the worst team in the league? Is he far less healthy than we know? Is he pouting because he is not getting enough targets? Has he lost his explosiveness? Is he unable to function with a QB like Wilson? All of the above?

I started this thread right after an infuriating loss, and I was especially angry at Sidney for just stopping and waiting for the ball to come to him, as he and rest of us watched a defender come in pick it off. Just go for the ball Sidney. Even if you get there at the same time as the DB and can't catch it, at least make an effort. That play really was just the cherry on top of what has been a complete disaster of a season for Rice so far, and I will be happy to see his money used on players next season that can help this team win, or at least put in the effort to try to win.

I agree Kearse is playing better than Rice look at the play yesterday against the same DBs. However I believe the reason PC is reluctant to to do so speed. Rice maybe faster still than both Kearse and Tate. They maybe using him to try and clear underneath for Baldwin and Tate until we get Harvin back

Assuming it is the case , I still would cut playing time for Rice. Kearse is producing better against the same competition and deserves it.

He won't be here next year. Not with his salary. Give the money to Tate instead.
...and Douggie Fresh. With Rice's salary, there's plenty to go around.

I was one of the few that wanted to see Rice as a final cut. Looks like more are hopping on this bandwagon.

He was doubled up all day by the Colts secondary.

Did you get this from the All 22 ?

If Rice is doubled up all game, it should be opening up things for the other WRs, but it's not. Are they bums then ? The TE's should be getting open, but they're not. If none of them are getting open, they're running nickle and dime packages, and we should be running more, but we're not.

So is it the QB not seeing the 3rd option being open ?

Is it playcalling ?

Every other team in the NFL doesn't have a getting guys open when their 1st option is doubled. Look at the freakin Bears; the Saints doubled up Marshall all game and Jeffries got 10 catches for like 231 yards.

Someone with better resources for scouting tell me then, what's the disconnect ?

I have note given up on Sidney. He was a beast for us last year. He will get better.

Is he an elite #1 NFL receiver? probably not top ten, but he has good hands, size, and experience. I think the is an important part of this offense.

He will be fine specially when Percy returns, you need somebody who can keep two people in the defense busy, that would open up plays. I think he will be just fine. He was clutch last year and he will be. I will be patient until the line gets better too.
