I love Rice.

But...

Our QB holds the ball longer than any other, because he can. We need improvising, quick scrapper wideouts, which Sidney is not.

Put Rice on the Broncos and he would average 100 catches and 1500 yards.

Kearse is the right call for this offense IMO

So essentially you are saying he is not clever, or fast, but would catch 100 balls on another team?

He would excel in a traditional, run the perfect route, normal 3-5 second routes.

Wilson never looks his way on the breakdowns, half of our passes, see Baldwin, TAte.

I guess I don't agree, there is a reason wilson doesn't look his way. He is always looking for a PI instead of being assertive and bringing his game. It's a negative trait, one of many.

He doesn't get enough separation (even on a standard pocket pass play) on a consistent basis. He is a big possession guy, that really isn't that physical (more like a china doll really). At this point he should be used as a situational red zone threat by any team. No chance in hell he catches 100 anywhere.

Hard for me to discount a fellow Coug!

Rice, prior to this year, has made every tough catch in traffic that wAs thrown his way.

I just don't see him,THIS YEAR, to be able to seperate himself when the " play breaks down" which is 67% of our plays.

Like Douchemenzadeh, give him three other threats to a prototypical QB and he is money. Maybe not.

Go Hawks! Go Cougs!

He always seems to be flailing to the ground flopping around

Agree whole-heartedly.

So, do you tell Sidney? And, if so do you say "its not you is me"? I've never broken up with a man before.

When breaking up with a man you just end it. No sugar coating or mind games. Or just get it on with someone else and make sure he finds out.

He had tremendous clutch passes last season which made him worth every dollar. This year he hasn't performed anywhere near that level. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt with the thought he's recovering from the knee treatment. But my patience is growing thin. The bright side is second half of the season is coming, and we'll have the O-Line back, and Percy Harvin.

I posted elsewhere just now that he seems to be playing a bit gunshy. Is he hiding an injury?

the thread is an over-reaction but there is 0 question that he completely gave up on that last play.
Yep, and everybody was busting Kearses balls for NOT coming back, or making an all out effort to catch an RW pass, and keep it from becoming an interception, but a Colts defender makes a come back play on a pressured RW pass for the intercept?
There's really no excuse for Rice on this one, nor the one he gave up last week in Texas :141847_bnono: .
Remember Joe Jurevicius?, if he couldn't bring the ball in, no one else was going to haul THAT ball in either.

Nah, you just tell him to go stand on the corner until a bus comes by to pick you up, and if no bus comes by?, go find another corner and see if another one will stop for ya.
He's getting pretty good pay for not doing his best.

I don't know, I find it odd we're referencing JJ, that's all. I mean, why not Derek Mayes? DJ Hackett? James McKnight?

Wonder why JJ sticks out as a favorite.

Point is, JJ played better than Rice is playing right now, AND, JJ wanted to finish his career in his home town, with the Cleveland Browns, can't fault him for that.

If he plays at the same level as last year then I think he's worth the money. With that said, I wouldn't mind looking for another #1 in the off season.
I think that a part of Russell Wilsons success hinges on him having a #1 Receiver that he can count on to take some of the heat off, because The Offensive Line is NOT functioning good enough to keep him healthy, ESPECIALLY if he keeps taking cheap hits.
Hopefully, Harvin can help with that, but we still are going to need a #1 that comes back, and fights for Wilsons pressure passes.

He was doubled up all day by the Colts secondary.
So's every other receiver making that much money.

Except that their QB's are willing to throw into double coverage. Wilson never will.
We've seen him do it a number of times, but I get what you mean. Carroll emphasizes not turning the ball over. Regardless, Rice is a good receiver, but NOT worth the money we're paying him.
