I guess, I mean why did they even trade for Howell? To be the back-up? For the future!?

Well, he's a backup currently and he was acquired for a mid-rounder. That's fair price for a backup who needs some significant development.

No, character is absolutely relevant, look at Watson for instance, and in retirement Favre(fav-ruh). Can definitely hurt a franchise and tarnish a generation of teams and I think there is a minimum level of character required to be hire-able in the league. I was just not familiar with him at all but good tape similar to Penix, tall passer with a strong arm - Penix has a stronger arm - but the deep ball accuracy and timing on throws seems strong NFL level to me from Kelly, good to know he's in the CFL for a reason other than talent, sounds below the character threshold.

3. Vernon Adams Jr., QB, B.C. Lions​

After not being listed on last year’s rankings, B.C. Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. broke out last season in a major way to land at number three on TSN’s Top 50 CFL players list.

Adams Jr. finished the season with 4,796 passing yards and finished second in touchdowns (31) and completions (333), all good for career-highs.

The 31-year-old led the Lions to a 12-6 record and a playoff berth in his first full season in B.C., before falling to the Blue Bombers in the Western final.

In February, Adams Jr. signed a three-year extension with the Lions. Now he will look to lead them to their first Grey Cup appearance since 2011.
