Yeah "frenzy" is a ridiculous exaggeration. More like "Prominent athlete who isn't teenage girl posts cryptic tweet. Some people somehow surprised others are discussing what it could mean, despite that obviously being the point."

OMG! Geno posts a random gif of lebron James walking out of a press conference. Maybe he’s just a lakers fan. Maybe he’s a LeBron fan. Maybe he’s a fan of press conferences. Whatever the maybes maybe, Seahawks fans automatically make it about him leaving the Seahawks. Damn the offseason is fun. The combine starts in a few days so the collective fanspeak can at least focus on some tangible football news.

Why did he leave it as a mystery though? That's the strange part.

I think the fact that we’re all kind of indifferent to it…even me, and I support bringing the guy back…speaks volumes. I think we can all take him or leave him quite frankly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move on, just think this is all posturing at this point

I don’t think this is very accurate. Not a smart move on he or his agents part at his age. But if it is true and let’s say he wants over $40 mil base then let him do what he wants. Every single player wants to be paid but his market is $30 ish mil with incentives tied in.

I mean dude to be honest its fairly obvious he's making a point though don't you think? I don't even fault him for trying to get the most he can. He's at the back end of his career and this is his last chance to make as much as he can/ I just don't think the Seahawks should cave here.

For those who don't want to click on an X link, which I did by accident, it's a GIF of some guy grabbing a suitcase and walking out of a crowded room. I think it might be of Lebron James, but it's pretty grainy.

Just attention seeking stuff. Probably means nothing, but he wants you to think it does.
Why wouldn't you click on an X lnk?

I just have never cared about Twitter, X, instragram etc. Meh. I do get some cool twitter stuff sent to me by friends, almost always about a signing in the NFL.

Whatever will be, will be.

Geno is unlikely to get any substantial new deal here. My present belief w/o any confirmation. Getting rid of couple of other contracts could otherwise have him stay for his final year of his contract. if he gets signed next offseason after staying here the team could get a fairly high compensatory pick. Is it worth keeping him for that?

He has no guaranteed money for this year save a roster bonus of $16 mil payable on the 5th day of the new league year. Not paying that roster bonus will make him a FA and result in $13.5 mil of dead money against this season's cap for the Hawks, and he's gone. My belief if he doesn't get paid the roster bonus and is released the team won't get any compensatory pick if he's signed elsewhere but will provide the team with a significant cap saving. If LV is in fact interested in him they could pick up his whole contract including the prorated bonus of 13.5 for a late round pick and have him for a season comparatively cheap, that as varied might be the best route for the team.

Time will tell. My bet is that he's likely gone as at his age the cliff is not that far away.
