How is this game any different from the Detroit game?

I just tuned in into Brock and Salk and they pointed out something interesting, the Detroit game where they are both pass happy teams and that 4th quarter meltdown by our team where Stafford was just picking on our secondary (particularly Trufant).

Chicago game was the change in the belief. It is a different team from that point on, till then we were having issues, now the team has learned how to finish games better.

Falcons compare better to Cowboys. We spanked the Cowboys.

The main difference - as far as I can tell - is that beginning in the 4th quarter of the Bears game, Russell Wilson decided he wasn't going to lose anymore.

Game. Set. Match and Check Mate!

way i see it, we've faced the two best passing games in the league with Brady and Rogers, and arguably the two best recieving cores in the league, and did just fine.... yes they will be another huge test, but we match up better with bigger recievers, so i'm hoping we can minimize the damage enough to hold them to FG's and the offense can get the red zone scoring going again.

The Lions game is a good analogy, similar type of setting and opponent.......only Atlanta has a better defense than the Lions.

RW has improved since the Detroit game, so I expect we can score 20-24 pts. The question is can our D get to Ryan to slow down the Falcon's up tempo offense? Without Clemons? Not sure, but it should be a good battle.

Bottom line, I don't expect the score to be lopsided either way. Should be a nailbiter.

Just hoping Irvin can step up and Mebane can return to the early season form he had going, Red too. When we played Green Bay, Clemons shredded that POS line so I hope Bruce and Scruggs can step it up. Tough going for two rookies, but they have played very well. I won't be mad if they struggle, but Red and Mebane are making the big bucks to be difference makers so I want to see them step up here along with Branch who has a chance to make some buck here in the final weeks of the season.

Thats a good point. we just have to hope that the hawks have learned how to deal with teams like this and I'm sure Pete will do his best to do that.

I would have to say this game is different because Atlanta won 13 games this year and Detroit won 4.

A little FWIW I find interesting.... Based on DVOA (I know I know advanced stats, blah blah) Detroit's pass protection was #1 in the league while Atlanta's is 8th (Pats 5th Sea 20th for comparison) so slightly worse there. I first thought those numbers could be skewed based on the fact that guys like Brady and Rogers can get the ball out so so fast however GB is ranked a whopping 31st, so there's that.
(Also Falcons O-Line is 24th in Run Blocking.)

And looking at teams with alot of "weapons" on O you could get a good debate going over who has the best perse between Pats, Pack and Falcons. I think Pats and Packers are much harder to stop cause of qb play. Haven't seen Ryan play much this year but we did alright against Rogers and Brady when throwing, what killed us were those quick 3 step drops and instantly getting the ball out for 7 to 9 yard gains all the time. Do not think Ryan can do that as effectively compared to the other two.

Detroit killed us with the slot reciever and the TE. Luckily Atlanta doesn't have a very good Tight End or Slot reciever.

Well... whatever happens, take comfort in the fact that it will never look as bad as this:

I see Atlanta's offense being far greater than Detroit, at least in the passing offense. They have two great receivers plus a great TE whereas Detroit only really had Megatron. Detroit exposed us in the passing game with their second (or whas it their third) receiver Titus Young (who isn't too bad himself) and dumped it off to their two tight ends Sheff and Pettigrew pretty frequently. Looking at the box score, Megatron didn't even lead the team in targets that game, it was Young and Pettigrew with 9 targets each, then Sheffler and Megatron with 8 each.
