I'm stationed aboard CVN-74, and tickets go on pre-sale for our onboard MWR today. Hopefully I can land a good spot in line and get my 4 tickets for the 49ers game! It'll save a ton of money since they're selling for face value.

The best part is that it's SNF, so the entire world gets to focus on watching us beat the living crap out of clapperdink and his team.

That is awesome. A fellow carrier squid.
I rode the Admiral Chester Nimitz myself and we didn't have no stinking Internet. You guys are spoiled these days. We hardly had phone time!

Good luck Sailor, hopefully you make it.

I was on the Lincoln - they just were starting to get interwebz when I got out. Luckily I worked in Supply and we had handy access to the POTS phone.

nIdaho - welcome home btw.

The MWR is something the military has for buying tickets to events, as well as free things such tours, hikes, etc. Basically, they get the military discounted or face value rates to help and encourage finding things to do in the local area.

Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. You can buy tickets to amusement parks, ball games, airlines, movies, etc.. There are also military hotels around the country where military personnel can get good rates and the MWR is where you go to make the reservations. Very similar to a travel agency, but for military only.

The "pre-sale" would be a count of how many tickets that are set aside for the military. Each team sets aside a certain amount of tickets for various reasons and usually the military gets first crack at those. The tickets not sold to military might get donated or sold elsewhere.

Thanks for the explanation-that's a great thing! Had I known such a thing existed, I might have hit up my Marine Corps Colonel buddy.

I am hoping to find some tix myself - the MWR deal is always a good one, but I think I may go club seats for my two Daughter's first NFL game...

I was in for the transition to email/internet being available underway - strange to have people get upset because we had not downloaded email for a whopping FOUR hours....

Try standing in line for MARS, whiners.....
