I think the officiating for this game was very awful. Yes we had penalties, but I'm still not convinced that they were all valid.. most particularly the one's they didn't show replays on. Maybe because they knew if they showed the replay it would cause uproar in the fact it was/wasn't a penalty. I was convinced at the start of the game It was going to be down and out right a grudge match due to the "fail mary" and that we weren't going to play the packers but instead the zebra's. I will say I'm proud of our boy's they didn't roll over they kept fighting, where as pre-PC/JS era they'd just lose all their inner fight and we'd see the game slip away.

1.) Turbin - I'm not impressed by him anymore, he lost yards and was lucky if he had 2 ypc mostly.
2.) Quinn - He's not even good enough for 3rd string QB we just need to get rid of him.
3.) NFL - They know we're coming and are going to do everything to stop us.. bring it :)
4.) Mayowa - I'm still pushing for him, this kids legit and I think is just amazing.

I realize its your forum and all, but allow me to respectfully 'agree to disagree' with the pessimistic theme of your analysis & humbly state that...
Superbowls are made of this stuff.
We just won. On the road. At Lambeau.

I'd love to watch a half dozen or so road wins of this nature this coming season.

Call it winning ugly, call it solid "run the ball, and stop the run football", but we silenced their crowd of 80,000 by refusing to back down, and churned it & earned it by locking them down into a brutal defensive battle of attrition that they didn't want to play for 4 quarters. Overall, our style of play, and will to win prevailed in this game. Our run defense was solidified by Tony McDaniel up front, Cristine Michael cleared outplayed Eddie Lacy in this game, and the turnover battle was even. So. Bottomline we won the game. On the road. At Lambeau. In front of 80,000 expecting karma/vengeance.

We took their best shots and punched 'em right back in the mouth. And at the end of the day who looks like "the Champs?"
We do. :thirishdrinkers:

Go Hawks! :th2thumbs:

This game showed so many good things from the lower depth of the team. I thought the first string was obviously struggling a bit, but it's important to keep an open mind from preseason where a lot of starters from both sides are sitting out and there is little to no game planning. The biggest disappointment was the O-line and the damn refs. The game was nigh unwatchable due to the officiating. Horrible calls on both sides... really just an ugly game.

First off, let's be clear. This is not MY forum. I may have built the site and ran it for awhile but without its current owner and amazing dedicated staff of volunteers, there would be no Seahawks.NET to go to in 2013 and beyond. They deserve all the credit for there being a forum of this magnitude for Seahawks fans to go to right now. I'm just the old crazy guy in the corner they patronize to keep me happy from time-to-time. :)

To your point, I can see that and respect that. We did beat the Packers in their house. No matter how ugly, we beat them. No matter the 14 penalties for - ugh - 182 yards, we silenced their fans for a good portion of the game. I guess these 44-year-old bones carry a lot of disappointment and let down when it comes to this team. So when expectations are finally HIGH...I expect the team to deliver, even in preseason. I realize that's unrealistic as we are still one of the youngest teams in the NFL, regardless of talent.

I am about to sit down and re-watch the game without the emotions attached. That always gives me more clarity. I suspect I will feel less pessimistic (at least on some levels) overall and put perspective back in its place. Plus the nightcap of kearly's Random Thoughts will hopefully help. :)

I was thinking this. Greenbay is hardly a slouch (even with their running game consisting of all short passes...heh), and they were SUPER motivated to beat us for "revenge".
Not THAT motivated... AR only played one series.

Okay, sorry for the melodramatic subject line. I'm just kidding. Seriously. No tomatoes please.

However, that was just plain godawful by anyone's standards, I don't care who you are. Outside of a few bright spots (Michael, our run D) this is one we would like to quickly forget.

I just hope the players don't any time soon.

It can be said that these types of games are perfect headed into the regular season, especially a young, talented team with the hype the 2013 Seahawks have. They tend to knock you back down a few pegs as if to say, "Don't believe the hype, boys. Ya still have to show up and play outstanding football." The team as a whole looked like garbage. Yes, like I said, there were some bright spots but when you look at the collective, it's hard to get too jacked and pumped over any individual stand out play.

Russell Wilson looked human. More so than ANY game I have seen him wearing a Seahawks uniform - preseason or otherwise - and I'm trying to decide if that's a good thing. Our expectations have been driven by evidence to the point that he's just missing a halo over his head and a Book of Russell that can be perused over ad nauseum by his countless, devoted followers. It's okay to remember that he is in fact a human being, despite what Moffitt says. Finer football minds than mine like kearly and others, can no doubt uncover some of the reasons for his struggles tonight but I think I'm okay with the fact that Russell Wilson didn't look like Our Lord And Franchise Saviour, but rather a qreat quarterback on-the-rise who simply had an off night in August.

Our starting OL looked like shit. There. Is that astute enough analysis for you? Where's my barf icon.

Is Sweezy the next Whitehurst in terms of rare failed experiments by this otherwise badass coaching and GM regime? Clearly it's too early to tell but signs insist on pointing gently towards the crappy side of things. This experiment has me on edge more than any other right now. Yes he has athletic ability and a ceiling higher than Moffitt but personally I'm not looking forward to any moment in the regular season where Moffitt is eating a bag of Doritos watching ESPN Primetime and getting a good chuckle at our expense.

The penalties are the MOST troubling to me. Coming off of a penalty-laden game against Denver, there can be no doubt the coaches stressed more disciplined play for this game. Instead? It was an abomination. Were the refs flag happy? I would say no doubt. Still, there's enough evidence here to convict the Seahawks in a court of law that some seriously sloppy, penalty-inducing plays took place. The refs might of had some secret bet that he who pulls the most flags wins, but there was cause to do so at least 60% of the time in my estimation. The refs don't get off the hook as they sucked BAD but if Holmgren were dead I would say he is surely rolling over in his grave. How much of this is due to the "player's coach" mentality that Pete brings to the franchise? I don't argue with the success his style of coaching brings, but it behooves me to mention there is a double-edged sword to that style and it manifests in the form of sloppy, penalty-rich play.

Like I said, I will let the finer football minds like kearly help us off the ledge (or force us to jump, let's wait and see) but these 44-year-old eyes still bring 20/20 vision to the table.

Yes it's preseason. Yes we have a lot of starters out. Yes we are playing vanilla, etc, etc, etc...

But when a team as good as ours looks as bad as they did, it's only human to question things. Like Russell Wilson. Human.

Well, until the regular season starts that is.

Reading this I would have thought we lost.... We beat GB on GB Turf, and they wanted to win in front of their fans... They played really hard to defeat us, and I think Coach Pete did a great job of coaching and using the right players in the right situations, and still taking a look a players in Pre-Season.....RW didn't look as good as normal and got caught a few times, a little disturbing... Plus, I wasn't sure when our starters took the field in the second half, until we scored... BINGO! That's what Coach Pete wanted the starters to feel... The good news is we won, and we're on a roll.. Nobody want's to be Oakland coming into Seattle next Thursday! Them :180670: Us :0190l:

What we saw tonight was not reason to hit the panic button. In fact, it was a backhanded compliment of sorts, and also a necessity.

For this is not 2012 where it's all fun and games and we're sneaking up on people. We now have the target on our backs, and you could see it in the way GB played. They HATE us, but they also were the ones playing the role of "protector". They want to be top dog, and they brought it all out against us because they know we're the team to beat.

You can tell this was new to Wilson. Like I said, the good vibes of 2012 are over. It's down to business.

I wonder how the Packer fans feel about this game. We played pretty bad and had yellow flags flying all night and yet we won the game.

All the Packers fans I know are claiming the result means nothing as Rodgers was pulled early in the first half.

The last quote I heard was something along the lines of "If Rodgers had played as long as Wilson the score would have been 30-17 Packers...blah blah we have more SB rings blah blah...(descends into self-entitled rant)"

Don't get me wrong LOL. the penalties were ugly, the O-line was ugly, the overthrows were ugly... hell, it was all ugly... BUT... 17-10. I'm grateful. And... Aros...
Just doing my best to get "you to step back from that ledge my friend"... as requested. :p

A lot of positives... you'll see...

Wilson forced the second one, pure and simple. He won't do that again.

It was forced for sure. Trying to get Tate a big play. However, he looked like he was trying not to overthrow his passes last night which could explain why it was under thrown so badly.

Our starting QB stayed in much much longer than Rogers did. I don't think we win that game if Rogers stays in.

The team looked good except for penalties.

Penalties extended drives for the Packers. Penalties gave Seattle some bad "down and distance" situations on offense. Penalties affected field position in the kicking game.

Seattle was more than competitive with Green Bay, on their field, with many key players sitting out, and while crawling out of self inflicted holes due to penalties.

Relax. Watch the Denver game again.

I don't think RW will have a sophomore slump, but year #2 will be a bigger challenge for him. Defenses are going to key in on him, and try to disrupt his rhythm and momentum as much as possible. The comeback performance of RW in Atlanta was amazing, but not sure if that style is sustainable. Not sure if the back yard football style is sustainable. Coaches have said that they will hold nothing back this year, but RW will still need to lean on the bread and butter that is our running game. At the moment, our pass pro is not cutting it, either.

On defense, I was a little worried about our running D, but we were in their back field, blowing up plays, and tackling for loss all day. Maybe GB's running game is just that bad? That, and Christine Michael were the highlights of this game.
