Kimes is a big Seahawks and Mariners fan. Her father was from here and instilled in her his love for his local teams. She often expresses this fact. But she is also a national sports reporter and has to be objective in her analysis. You might not agree with her takes, and I'm sure she's fine with that.
Objectivity is overrated, way overrated. Here on dot net, our team is going 13-5 (floor), and deep into playoff. Our OL will be top 12 if not top 10; our defense? top 5 of course.

I have two sides of me. I'm kind of a hard-arse realist/objective sort at the start of the season, and just as often during the week leading up to the day of the game. But then when kickoff arrives, I immediately shift into this hopeful, optimistic we-can-win-this game mode no matter what the circumstance or who we're playing. We've got to be really out of a game for me not to think there is some way we can pull it out.

Kimes is not a real Hawks fan. This broad isn't even from here. I think she's from Nebraska or something like that. She always has negative things to say about the Seahawks. She's lives in LA and I truly believe she's a Rams fan, I really do. I watched that same podcast. Yup, 18th and missing the playoffs. Not gonna happen.
Not a hater but I've listened to her a long time ago and came to a similar conclusion.

That's all I have to say about thaT

I'm excited for the season. I have no idea when it comes to predictions. The defense should be solid, but the offense is still a huge question mark to me. Team could be shockingly good, or mid pack bad. Just don't know yet.

Completely agree with this. Can Macdonald's defense ascend to truly elite where it can drive the team to victories on its own...or will it be good (even great) and still need to be complemented by a decent offense? Is the offense going to be bad, mid, good? How long will all of the above take? The expectation for this team could be anywhere from 7 to 12 wins. We'll have a much better idea predicting how 2026 could go, but there are so many unknowns right now about how all of this is going to come together.

Wow, love the optimism here. I know I'm a bit of an outlier here, but I can't get past the offensive line issues, question marks at WR, the lack of a big-time edge rusher and the aging D-line (Reed-32, Hankins-33, Williams-31). So I'm going with 9-8.

We had two teams that suffered from protection issues. Chicago Bears' 2024 OL was rated at #24 by PFF, and ours at #31. The solutions by the coaching staff and front office of the franchises were polar opposite.

Bears
They identified the IOL as the problem and they signed FA IOL players to improve their line.
Signed:
Drew Dalman C, 3 years, $42 million PFF 78.8
Jonah Jackson G, $12.5 mil PFF 67.5
Joe Thuney G, $35 mil PFF 79.9
Drafted:
2nd round 56th Ozzy Trapilo OT
6th round 195th Luke Newman OT

Hawks
We identify the culprits as Geno Smith, SK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett. All gone from the organization, cleansed. We didn't sign any IOL of note, but we used our 1st-round pick on a versatile 5-position lineman.
We signed:
Josh Jones OT 1 year, $4.75 million, PFF 43.2
Drafted:
1st 18th Grey Zabel G
6th 192th Bryce Cabeldue OT
7th 234th Mason Richman OT

See the differences? We went to the root cause and pulled rotten teeth. The Bears? Bandaids.

I think DT is a position group that tends to age more gracefully than other position groups. Plus, we have a 23 year-old first rounder at that position as well.

Incorrect. Kimes (admittedly I have a major crush on her) IS a Seahawks fan. Look no further than the tat she has on her right arm that simply reads "SBXLVIII". As others have pointed out, as a national media member affiliated with ESPN, it behooves her not to show any kind of bias towards the Seahawks, even if to a detriment at times (i.e. purposely ranking them a little lower than she might behind closed doors). Trust me, if she could, she would dedicate an entire show about her favorite team. Alas, she has producers and focus groups to consider so discussing the Seahawks in glowing terms for 30 minutes or more is not conducive to a national audience.

Unfortunately.

How in the hell would anyone actually think Mina Kimes isn't a Hawks fan? Wow

Watch her on TV, what do you see in the background? Hawks stuff. She's flat out said SEVERAL TIMES "my Hawks"
She has a fricken Hawks tattoo on her arm. Yeah, I'm sure a Rams fan would get a Hawks tattoo of SB 48.

But by all means, call a successful woman a "broad"

Are you posting under the influence of that crush? She after all quite young, attractive, and can hold football conversations.

I just did a deep dive on Kimes and you're right. I never noticed that superbowl 48 tat on her arm. I'm kinda shocked Aros. Why does she keep ranking the Hawks so god damn low for, it pisses me off. You're right on not showing bias towards the Seahawks because someone told me the exact the same thing a few hours ago. Alright Kimes, you got my attention now. I do think she's a good football analyst.
